Aaron Rodgers’ Offense Bolstered by John Simpson’s Addition as David Bakhtiari’s Packers Farewell Rekindle Jets Rumors

The New York Jets’ exemplary QB Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury in 2023. Following that, the Jets’ season, especially their offense did not put forward a promising performance. However, Rodgers is about to catch up with his health now, and the Jets are set to bolster their O-Line. Maybe that’s why they decided to sign the Ravens’ OL John Simpson.
But there’s more to the story than John Simpson joining the Jets. A couple of months ago, the Packers were in the process of letting go of David Bakhtiari. That day has finally arrived. Now, the fans can’t help but think that the Jets might sign Bakhtiari to reunite him with his old QB friend Rodgers. This has led to speculations surrounding the player as the Jets look to gear up their squad.

Per the recent report from Tom Pelissero, it was brought to light that the Ravens veteran OL Simpson is signing with the Jets. Both parties have agreed to a 2-year $18 million deal. He will play the left guard position with the Jets as well, the same old drill that he’s used to from his Baltimore tenure. However, looking through the comments, it seems like the Jets fans still cannot make anything of the new deal and can’t point out whether it’s ideal.

Last month, there were speculations that David Bakhtiari’s release was also in the pipeline because it would help the Packers save about $21 million in cap space. All that would be true because the LT has bid goodbye to his former team and become a free agent this off-season. His probable home is rumored to be the Jets. But Bakhtiari’s NFL journey has been troublesome, to say the least. The LT has missed 45 games since 2020 and had 5 knee surgeries since. Hence signing him might be a risky affair for the Jets.

The only good thing about this deal is that the Packers’ LT has a lot of known variables in the Jets roster. The most prominent one is Aaron Rodgers himself. The two have created numerous memories together during their time at the Packers. With the Jets’ roster in the highlight, there is a possibility of another ‘Cheesehead’ also adding his name to the list.

It was in 2010 that the Jets made their last playoff appearance. That’s probably the reason why they are looking for some evident changes in their squad list. Recently the Wisconsin team decided to let go of Aaron Jones, another former teammate of Rodgers’. This news also sparked the imaginations of the Jets fans as they prepare for a feature-packed 2024 regular season.

Jones played 11 games in the 2023 season and amassed 656 yards and 2 touchdowns in the time frame. The numbers aren’t a lot to show for, but he has experience worth 7 seasons and has a proven record with Rodgers. He is still moving in the shadows and his next move isn’t public yet. Hopefully, the Packers hire him and get a chance to rebuild and resurrect themselves.
