Legal issues are hardly an untouched domain in the NFL world. Recently, it is the Dallas Cowboys‘ owner, Jerry Jones, who has found himself tied up in legal knots. The 78-year-old finds himself facing a paternity test and some serious allegations, after a lawsuit was recently filed against him by a former Congressional aide.

Per the 26-year-old woman in question, the former footballer along with a few associates had executed “a deliberate plan” to show her in a negative light during the case. Jones and his team made no exclusive comments on the accusations made from her end. However, now, even a year after the impending issue, while the matter remains unresolved between the two parties, a slight relief has come Jones’ way. In a tale of two lawsuits, there is relief for Jones in one.

The story started in March last year, when 26-year-old former Congressional aide Alexandra Davis filed a lawsuit against Jerry Jones, claiming him as her biological father.  Davis also filed a second defamation lawsuit against Jones that accused him and two others of portraying her as “an extortionist”. The two others in the lawsuit were the Cowboys owner’s longtime lawyer Don Jack and family communications consultant Jim Wilkinson.

Now a federal judge in Texas, Judge Robert W. Schroeder III has dismissed the defamation lawsuit and Jerry Jones and his supporters can breathe a temporary sigh of relief.

But, that’s not the end of the actual case in which Jones was allegedly targeted. The pending verdict on the same continues to surround the businessman, grabbing the attention of the NFL audience as well as the followers of Jones himself. Amidst this, Davis’ perspective has also been making rounds around the NFL world.

Alexandra Davis filed a legal lawsuit against Jerry Jones, in which she claimed that she was the second daughter of Jones with her mother, Cynthia Davis. According to her, Cynthia was a ticket agent for American Airlines in Arkansas, when she met Jones. She asked Jones to recognize his daughter legally, and during the court process, a Texas judge ordered Jones to take a paternity test.

However, the test was delayed and later it was reported that Jones had agreed to support the Davis family financially, without maintaining any personal associations. After this, Jones’ supporters and lawyers claimed that Davis was allegedly doing all this for money. Therefore, this led Davis to file a lawsuit against him, and his supporters, claiming he “initiated a deliberate plan to portray her as an extortionist and a shakedown artist.”

Though, now that the case has been dismissed, the 26-year-old has 21 days left to file an amendment case in the lawsuit. On the other hand, Jones may have found some relief from the legal lawsuit, but his legal troubles are not completely resolved, as he might still have to submit a paternity test as ordered by the court last year.
