Pierce’s comment came during a recent interview where the Raiders coach introduced the concept of “Patrick Mahomes rules.” Drawing parallels to the infamous “Jordan rules” employed against basketball legend Michael Jordan. The strategy, reminiscent of the physicality displayed by the “Bad Boy” Pistons against Jordan, underscores the Raiders’ efforts to challenge Mahomes on all fronts.

During the interview on Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby’s “The Rush” podcast, Pierce elaborated on the concept, saying, “Any time he came to the hole? Elbows, feeling him, love taps, we touched him, we’re in their head, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, I’m touching you.” And it seemed that on Christmas Day last year, it actually bore fruit.

In the lead-up to the Raiders’ showdown against the Chiefs on Christmas Day, Antonio Pierce pulled out a move straight out of a movie. He showed his team clips of Michael Jordan getting knocked around on the court. The last time the two teams met, the Chiefs had emerged victorious. But this time, the Raiders weren’t having it. They came out swinging and gave a Christmas present to the Chiefs.

Four sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown. The Raiders’ defense was relentless. But Pierce wasn’t just trying to fire up his team for one game. He was setting the tone for a whole new era of Raiders football. His “hate the color red” mantra wasn’t just about that one matchup—it was about instilling a mindset, a culture of dominance.

Fast forward to the offseason, and it’s clear the Raiders were impressed. They didn’t waste any time removing the “interim” tag from Pierce’s title, recognizing his ability to inspire greatness in his players and lead the team to victory. Looks like the Raiders are ready to ride the wave of momentum straight into the next season, and you can bet Pierce will be leading the charge every step of the way.
