After Hitting 16-Year Low, Injured Aaron Rodgers Aims to Rewrite NY Jets Legacy as QB Trains With Garrett Wilson

The first two seasons of Aaron Rodgers’ career were nearly barren, as the QB played only 5 games and had 0 touchdowns to his name. He started picking up in 2007 with absolutely astonishing numbers to display, unfortunately hitting a 16-year-low in 2023 where he exited the season without a single TD to his name. While the matters for the recently shifted New York Jets QB turned out negative due to his early exit from an Achilles injury, it nonetheless left a taste of disappointment.

Aaron Rodgers played a single game with null stats and was ousted for a whole season. But the QB is recovering and has been showing up to practice more and more. While expectations loom largely over the QB’s head, this recent post from the team surely gives hope to the player’s and organization’s fans for the upcoming season, in the presence of young talent as well.

The Jets’ QB was spotted practicing in the Jets facility, and they posted a video on Instagram just a couple of hours ago. The video captioned, “a little Sunday @aaronrodgers12 & @garrettwilson action 🎯 shows the Super Bowl-winning QB practicing his throws with Garrett Wilson, the WR out of Ohio State. The WR has been on a great trajectory and has been an asset for the team for the past two years.

Wilson had 1,000-plus yards seasons in 2022 as well as 2023, played all the games, and had 7 touchdowns to show besides his name. His performance is expected to get even better in the presence of a veteran QB like Rodgers, getting the experienced insights on plays and how the right decisions should be set into motion.

In that view, the video shows Aaron Rodgers running his usual QB drills as he takes a couple of steps back and forth and showcases his accuracy in a pass to Garrett Wilson. The clip serves as a reminder of how to make things easier on Rodgers, the Jets have made huge changes in the off-season.

The Jets hustling in the off-season

The most recent transaction of the Jets is the signing of OL Tyron Smith. Apart from Smith, the team has also invested in new linemen. In March alone, the team signed 4 offensive linemen. John Simpson and Morgan Moses are the recruits for the team. The team’s general manager has also been dropped hints of the New York side being interested in TE Brock Bowers to potentially strengthen the offense of the team.

But more than signing players, the Jets have been releasing its players or moving them to Reserve/Future. About now, the Jets have the 10 overall pick in the coming draft. The team needs receivers, running backs, offensive tackles, and safeties It’s hard to find suitable players with just a total of 7 picks in the draft, but the Rodgers-led side seems determined to do well under their experienced QB.
