First of all, let’s accept that even after the 2025 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 4-QB plan is not fulfilled. If we look at their divisional rival, the Cleveland Browns, they have Sanders, Gabriel, Pickett, Watson, and Flacco. That’s five QBs, that is two more than the Steelers. And that’s what invites a heavy backlash on Mike Tomlin and the organisation. And former Cowboys and Ravens defensive end is not an exception. The NFLer used harsh words to describe the 2025 season.
During an ESPN panel, former edge rusher Marcus Spears weighed in on the Steelers’ quarterback situation. Before Spears shared his thoughts, another panelist suggested Mason Rudolph could lead the team this season. When asked for his take, Spears said, “First of all, let me say this. I don’t like optimistic Graziano. I like negative Graziano. And I like the one because we know damn well, the Pittsburgh Steelers ain’t winning nothing with Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and probably Aaron Rodgers as well.” And the future?
He added, “You look at the Pittsburgh Steelers and how they’ve been waffling. I, for the life of me, can’t understand what the quarterback situation in the future looks like.” And he didn’t stop there.

While explaining his take, former Ravens edge said that he thought the Steelers could add Shedeur Sanders at 20th overall in the first round. That was a horrible decision, according to the expert. The QB they are looking for, that is, Aaron Rodgers, is not going to last for more than a year. The guy wants to play football for one more year, according to his latest take.
In a recent interaction with BFF Pat McAfee, Rodgers said that he wants to play football. It’s not about money; he is ready to play for $10 M. “It ain’t about the money. I said I’ll play for $10 million. Whatever. I’m open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility,” Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee show. So, if we understand the between-the-lines meaning of this, does Mike Tomlin think Aaron Rodgers is gonna work harder than a rookie or any other QB and help Art Rooney to get the Lombardi? The answer is simple.
Meanwhile, Rodgers’s recent appearance at the Kentucky Derby fueled rumors about his marriage. But after rumors started swirling in the city of Pittsburgh, fans and experts didn’t spare Rodgers for ignoring the Steelers.
What’s your perspective on:
Are the Steelers making a mistake banking on Rodgers, or should they focus on a young QB?

Aaron Rodgers is facing a huge backlash for ignoring the Steelers
It’s been two months, but the Steelers-Rodgers saga is not nearing an end. This love story started when free agency began. Initially, the Steelers were sure the former Packers star QB would respond in a few days in March, but the QB was not in a hurry. In his recent interaction, he also told Pat McAfee that he is in no hurry to make a decision. And this has been reacting to this confused behaviour for weeks.

The social media witnessed an outburst of Steelers fans’ emotions toward Aaron Rodgers after the 41-year-old was seen at the Kentucky Derby. When his marriage rumors started, fans were literally reacting like, “who cares?”. It was a fair reaction for many Pittsburgh fans as they can’t see their team desperately waiting for a 41-year-old man who doesn’t even care about delivering a final decision.

The worst part of the story is that the Steelers organization is dying to hear a final decision from Aaron Rodgers. And expects his safe landing in Pittsburgh. It creates doubts in fans’ minds. It’s obvious that fans may think that the team is looking forward to focusing on a long-term QB like Will Howard or just running after a QB who can announce his retirement at any time. Let’s see how things unfold further in Pittsburgh.
