Zach Wilson getting traded to the Broncos might be the most outrageous news for some fans. The nuances of the deal are clear. The Jets receive a late sixth-round pick and pay a part of Wilson’s $5.5 million salary next year. Apart from Zach Wilson, the Denver Broncos also receive a seventh-round pick. This might be a weird decision for some but there is a catch.
Things didn’t work out with Russell Wilson and the Broncos. But, Sean Payton has a history of working with dejected quarterbacks and this might be one of those moves. The NFL Insider Peter Schrager went on the Pat McAfee Show and talked about what this trade could mean for the Broncos in the long run.

McAfee brought up the topic of “Bo Nix to the Broncos”, acknowledged the Zach Wilson trade, and asked for Schrager’s take on the situation. The NFL insider explained trade possibilities. The Broncos currently have the 12 overall pick. The conundrum is: whether to wait for Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix at no. 12 or to trade places, move up, to possibly have a shot a someone like JJ McCarthy.
However, Schrager also thinks that Zach Wilson and the Broncos will thrive with each other. “Sean Payton has thrived with guys who have been discarded by their first teams. And I’m talking about Kerry Collins, I’m talking about Drew Brees, I’m talking about Jameis Winston, I’m talking about Teddy Bridgewater,” said the Insider. Many think that the Broncos downgraded themselves by replacing Russell Wilson with Zach Wilson, but Peter Schrager had a different take.

He then added, “I know Sean, he looks at this like, ‘Okay, watch, watch what I can do, and let me get my hands on Zach Wilson.’ So, I wouldn’t say they’re done, though. I would say a quarterback is very much in play for the Denver Broncos in the first round of this draft.”
Just like Schrager, Chad Johnson was also excited about Wilson going to the Broncos.
