The Eagles broke the Chiefs—physically, mentally, and emotionally. The AFC West team couldn’t believe what was happening. Meanwhile, head coach Andy Reid stood on the sidelines, watching the game, analyzing what went wrong, and considering what the team needed in the draft. As we move into the second day of the draft, the coach has made another move to strengthen the defense.

After selecting Tennessee Volunteers defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott in the second round (63rd overall), Reid doubled down on defense by drafting Louisville Cardinals defensive end Ashton Gillotte in the third round (66th overall). The visuals of loss are still playing in a loop in front of his eyes. He wants to avoid it.

Andy Reid bypassed one of their long-standing principles in the draft by hiring the OL Josh Simmons in the first round. Patrick Mahomes also needed protection. But they swiftly changed gears into the next big requirement. Defensive strength. Gillotte was a menace in college. He ranks among the top pass rushers in Louisville program history. Over his career, he played in 51 games and started all 37 over the past three seasons. His 41.0 tackles for loss place him fifth all-time at the school, while his 26.5 career sacks rank sixth.

The other defensive pick, Omarr Norman-Lott, played 44 games and finished with 13.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, and 89 tackles (47 solo). Gillottee has more experience by playing 51 games and recording 2 defended passes, and 131 tackles (73 solo). So, the game is on. The Chiefs are coming with a vengeance.

However, the fans were not happy with the draft selections. They started trolling the head coach.

Fans troll Andy Reid over 3rd-round pick

Most analysts had predicted different 3rd round picks. They either predicted RB Ashton Jeanty, who was also available. But Andy Reid chose Gillotte, forcing one fan to write, “Are y’all picking random players atp 💀” Another fan mocked the head coach for making the crucial mistake and wrote, “Andy Reid happy as right now he thinks he took Ashton Jeanty.” So, that’s not what fans expected.

The Chiefs Kingdom wanted the coach to choose more scoring players. That’s the only way to win. If Patrick Mahomes was not there, the team would not have even reached the Super Bowl, given the 4 close games they played. One fan urged Andy Reid to pay close attention and mentioned, “We will never take a top available player bro 😭.” Another fan kept his message brief. He revealed his feelings in just 3 words and wrote, “Y’all are trash.” That’s brutal.

YOU CAN’T TELL ME THIS GUY WAS BETTER THAN LANDON JACKSON. LIKE HOLY SHIT,” one fan wrote as the fans rued that the Chiefs missed the golden chance to draft the defensive end. They are now waiting to see how the franchise rotates their players in the season. They want to win back the respect by clinching the championship.
