The Chiefs Kingdom has found themselves in a tough position, considering their latest injury in the receiver room. Although they have managed to make it four out of four this season, injuries haven’t been kind to the reigning Super Bowl Champions. After Rashee Rice’s knee injury last week, the Chiefs could be on the market to look for valuable additions.

This led to the NFL talking about whether Raiders WR Davante Adams could be moving toward Kansas City as they search for receivers. However, head coach Andy Reid may not be thinking about getting Adams on board. In his press conference before the Week 5 game against the Saints, a reporter asked, “You’re obviously down a wide receiver. What are your practice squad moves – or move – going to be?”

Reid’s response? “I’ll visit [the moves] with each [practice session]. But right now, I think we’re okay with who we’ve got up at wide receiver.” Well, this would mean the Chiefs are counting upon their other receivers, Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Justin Watson, who are eagerly waiting for their first-team opportunities.

Seeing Reid address those rumors, they might be moving away from getting Adams to link up with Patrick Mahomes. But the Chiefs had enough cap space of around $4.7 million to bring Adams on board. However, the Raiders’ expectation of a second-round draft pick next season may have thwarted the Super Bowl champions.

Even Rice’s injury isn’t that serious, considering the way it was presented prior to him being added to the injury reserves. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that there were concerns regarding Rice tearing his ACL after colliding with Mahomes last week. But since those shouts, the Chiefs didn’t have any confirmation surrounding that.

Well, getting Adams into the Chiefs means he would have to play a sizable number of games. However, Rice’s return down the line could create problems for the Chiefs as the rookie WR was on the line to record a breakout season. His 24 catches on 288 yards were sensational, considering the way the Chiefs have struggled in offense this season. This makes us question where Adams could really end up if a trade deal does happen.

Analyzing Davante Adams’ next destination in the NFL

Davante Adams will still have two years remaining on his $140 million contract after this season. But there is a certain clause that may have resulted in the rumor mill moving this season. Based on his five-year contract, there is an option to be out after this season. This got plenty of teams interested in getting his signature on their franchise, considering his experience in the NFL. Having won six Pro Bowler accolades, Adams would be an instant boost for any team in the NFL.

Among all the teams, the Steelers are considering monitoring his situation after Brandon Aiyuk this summer. Him signing a new contract with the 49ers meant the Steelers had to be content with George Pickens and Calvin Austin III. However, the way Black and Gold has performed this season, adding Adams would be a huge boost in their aspirations to reach the Super Bowl.

Elsewhere, the Jets remain the most likely destination for the history Aaron Rodgers and Adams shared during their time in Green Bay. As the four-time NFL MVP shared, “I don’t know how much I can say about it because of tampering. But I still have a close friendship with him. Spend time in the offseason together. Great guy, a great player, the rest of that is out of my hands.”

Even Jets No.1 receiver Garrett Wilson spoke highly of Adams joining the green and white, “That would be cool. If someone can help us win, let’s do it.” Will the Jets manage to get the duo back linking again in New York? Or will it be some other franchise that is willing to bet next year’s draft picks to bring Adams on board? Considering the latest updates, the Chiefs may be out. However, the hype for Adams hasn’t stopped, as the Raiders are still looking for possible suitors.
