Andy Reid is not happy with the team overall after some narrow-margin wins. Despite trying to uplift the mood in the locker room, he gave a stern command to the Kansas City Chiefs squad post-game on Sunday. He asked his players to buckle up for the upcoming games as “we got some things we gotta clean up.” However, that’s not all he addressed.
The 66-year-old coach also talked about the injury scenes of some players. He informed that linebacker Cam Jones (illness) and kicker Spencer Shrader (hamstring) are also on injured reserve. But that’s not it! The list is increasing for the Chiefs, as Andy Reid recently announced that the Chiefs have “placed TE Peyton Hendershot on Reserve/Injured.”
Travis Kelce’s backup tight end Hendershot suffered calf cramps during the Week 12 game. Although he returned to the field and finished off the game with no issues, the concern didn’t end there. He is now placed on the injured reserve due to his calf injury, and as per reports, the tight end isn’t coming back for the next four weeks this season.

Definitely, a trouble for the tight end slot of the Chiefs, given that Travis Kelce too, isn’t arguably in his good form. But that’s not just the case. This new injury marked the third backup tight end to go on injured reserve this time. It is because TE Jody Fortson (knee) and rookie TE Jared Wiley (season-ending ACL) are already on that list.
So, now it seems all the responsibilities fall on Travis Kelce’s shoulders, but as per many, this 35-year-old player is in a struggling phase himself.
Andy Reid’s TE Travis Kelce is not good now?
In 2020, tight end Travis Kelce recorded the most receiving yards (1,416) for a single season. Last year, he reached 11,000 career receiving yards, becoming the fourth and fastest TE to do so. However, this season, it seems something is off with Andy Reid’s star player. In this season, he has recorded just 2 touchdowns to his name.

In addition to that, his only best came against the Buccaneers, when he recorded 14 receptions for 100 yards. That’s it! The Chiefs tight end, who is known as one of the best in the league, is falling off. Probably, that’s the reason NFL cornerback Domonique Foxworth made this statement: “Travis Kelce ain’t right. There’s no explosion.” Foxworth tried to expose the 35YO, as the numbers on the page also hint at Travis Kelce’s downfall.
Nevertheless, there is still some time left. Additionally, given that situation where he is the only popular star TE left active in the roster, Kelce needs to add some fire to his games. Hope that’s week 13!
