The New Orleans Saints had a fantastic start to their season, two wins in a row, signifcant wins at that. 47-10 against the Panthers and 44-19 against the Cowboys gave the Saints a pep in their step. That was, of course, until Jalen Hurts’ Eagles stopped the Saints train in its tracks with their 15-12 win. It was a respectable loss, with the Saints in the lead until a last-minute touchdown in the 4th quarter. Nevertheless, it’s put a slight damper on the Saints’ campaign, but they’ll be keen on winning that momentum back against the Atlanta Falcons later today.

But how’s their roster looking? Saints fans will be happy to hear that running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Chris Olave are reported to be available for today’s game, and that they’re likely to be seen on the field. Alvin Kamara was struggling with injuries to his hips and ribs. Olave had sustained a hamstring injury during practice last Friday.

The Saints squad is still injury-stricken though, with three players ruled out. Linebacker Demario Davis and receiver A.T. Perry are struggling with hamstring injuries. Further, offensive guard Cesar Ruiz is recovering from a knee injury.

The New Orleans Saints‘ rivalry with the Atlanta Falcons is at a very interesting point right now. With 110 games played, both teams have won exactly half, 55 each. Tonight will put them at an interesting tipping point. Whoever wins gets bragging rights in this rivalry that stretches back to 1967. Their last five matchups have seen the Saints win 4 of them. The last game was played just earlier this year, in January, winning the Saints a resounding victory. A terrific performance from Derek Carr, who threw 4 touchdowns, helped push them to a 48-17 win.

With that kind of history, both teams will give the game tonight their all. It’ll be an interesting one to watch. That’s not the only reason we might see history made today, though.

Can we expect Alvin Kamara to break any records today?

Alvin Kamara has been performing on the field since day one. He was the NFL Rookie of the year in 2017, when the Saints drafted him in the 3rd round. He’s also one of only 2 players to have scored six rushing touchdowns in a single game. The last time someone else had managed the feat was in 1929, nearly a century ago (Ernie Nevers was the man. You should look him up). Despite some of his behavior off the field, he’s been an asset to the Saints.

And today gives him the chance to earn a record. If he gets just one more receiving touchdown, he becomes the 4th player in NFL history to have both 50+ rushing touchdowns and 25+ receiving touchdowns. He’ll be joining an illustrious list: Lenny Moore, Marshall Faulk, and Christian McCaffrey.
