Oh, here we go—what’s a little pregame fun without a wager? But this one wasn’t your average bet. It was more of a challenge from one legend to another. Ahead of the Chiefs’ showdown with the Raiders, the legendary #88, Tony Gonzalez, threw a little fuel on the fire for Travis Kelce.

Gonzalez wants Trav to break his franchise record for most TD receptions by a tight end, which is tied at 76. And what better way to do it than against their arch-rivals, right? But, of course, Tony didn’t just ask for the record-breaking moment Nope, that would have been cliche. He put it on a platter, with a sweet deal: “If he dunks it, I will pay that fine!

Yep, you heard that right. Tony’s willing to cover Kelce’s fine if he pulls off the (record-breaking) touchdown and dunks the ball on the goal post. How can you not love this? I mean, he knows Trav’s going to do it. But it just shows he wants him to. Guess that’s what makes him a legendthe selflessness.

Now, if you are wondering about the dunking fine context. Well, no need to wonder because nope, players can’t dunk over the goalpost anymore. We mean anymore, quite literally! The rule was only implemented back in 2014 when the Saints TE Jimmy Graham famously bent the goalpost. (I mean, you can only imagine what’d Trav do to a post). So, while it s–ks, it’s now officially labeled as ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’. But not only that, doing it earns the team a 15-yard penalty.

So, while Tony might cover Travis’ tabs, he cannot, in any way, help recover those lost yards. And boy, dunking the ball is an expensive way to lose some yards. But hey, keep an eye on Travis Kelce because when he does break the record, he might actually be pointing towards his beau Tay-Tay in the stands.

Can Travis Kelce break Tony Gonzalez's record and dunk his way into NFL legend status?

Have an interesting take?

Well, something similar happened. But it was Taylor Swift who was in the thick of the attention as her moves mirrored Travis Kelce’s. During the Raiders game, the cameras panned on TS (just for a second, though), as she was in the middle of her Trav celebration after his TD.

Kelce had just pulled off a masterful lateral play after catching a Patrick Mahomes pass. And there was Tay-Tay in the VIP suite, hitting the move herself. Honestly, she might be getting the hang of it. We can now use this phrase: the whole sequence (including the camera pan) was as smooth as one of her mid-concert outfit changes.

Now, while Swift skipped the Chiefs’ last two away games (the Eras Tour doesn’t pause for anyone), her return to the stands seemed perfectly timed. And boy, she came in style… Dressed in a red Louis Vuitton sweater and rocking an “87” pendant necklace—yes, a nod to Kelce’s jersey—Swift clearly came prepared to rep #ChiefsKingdom.

We said perfectly timed because her Eras Tour is winding down, and guess what? The playoffs are around the corner. So, it feels like her role as the Chiefs’ unofficial good-luck charm is just getting started. Call it dark arts, but the game’s the game.
