As Americans celebrate Veterans Day today, the NFL also joined millions of Americans in thanking the service of the Armed Forces. The NFL’s program, Salute to Service, represents its dedication to empowering, honoring, and connecting the nation’s service people and their families. It has also partnered with the Bob Woodruff Foundation, United Service Organizations (USO), Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), and other organizations that provide monetary aid. To date, Salute to Service has raised more than $66 million for their partners.

The NFL took to X to share a video thanking all the members of the Armer Forces for keeping Americans safe, both at home and abroad. At the same time, millions of proud Americans flooded the comments section to express their gratitude.

Roger Goodell thanks veterans on behalf of the 32 teams of the NFL
The only reason that the 32 teams of the NFL are able to battle it out on a weekly basis on the gridiron, is because of the million men and women who protect Americans’ freedom, both at home and abroad. “We cherish the memories of players who gave their lives in service to our country and celebrate those who have served our great nation.”
Today and everyday, we celebrate and honor America’s Veterans for their commitment, service and sacrifice.

A few days ago, a picture of Navy Lieutenant Joe Cardona’s picture had gone viral of him saluting soldiers in the on-field Enlistment Ceremony. The incident happened during the New England Patriots vs. Washington Commanders. Cardona holds the distinction of being the only active NFL player who is concurrently serving in the Armed Forces as well.

As soon as the NFL posted the video, tributes flowed in from Americans who also wanted to express their gratitude for their veterans. Former US President, Barack Obama, also shared a post on X.
