While the Bears fight to stay hot in a tough division, Williams is quietly stepping into the expanding world of women’s professional sports investments.

The Chicago Bears’ quarterback and 2022 Heisman winner joined the investor group backing the Boston Legacy Football Club, a fresh face in the National Women’s Soccer League. His firm, 888 Midas, focuses on smart, culturally relevant investments.

“With 888 Midas, we are so excited to be part of the Boston Legacy Football Club,” Williams said in the press release. “Women’s sports is a movement, and I admire and respect the work that the team and the NWSL continues to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes. Boston Legacy Football Club is building something special, and we’re proud to be a part of what’s next.”

Boston Legacy FC, set to start in 2026 as NWSL’s 15th team, already has a star-studded investor line-up, including Aly Raisman, Elizabeth Banks, Celtics GM Brad Stevens, and WNBA’s Aliyah Boston. Caleb Williams is joining forces with them to help shift the sports investment landscape.

The Legacy will hit the pitch playing at Gillette Stadium before moving to their long-term home, White Stadium in Franklin Park, once renovations wrap. The roster is starting to form with nine players already signed, and high-profile investors like Williams will only help generate more buzz.

Off the field, Williams made a bold move, backing a rising women’s sports movement. On the field, he used the Bears’ bye week to gear up for his own push to lead Chicago’s offense in the weeks ahead.

Caleb Williams’ bye week reset

The Bears are riding some unexpected energy with a two-game winning streak, turning heads after a 0-2 start. But even with momentum, the early bye week could’ve come at the worst time. Instead of sulking, Caleb Williams used the break wisely to recharge both body and mind.

The Bears’ offense is clicking, and Williams seems laser-focused on keeping that rocket fueled for the remaining games. “It’s a week of mental rest and then obviously being able to find ways to get away…because it’s going to be a long stretch of games, 13-plus games,” Williams said. “I think I did a good job with that this year of getting back into it a day or two before we actually get back in here.”

With the bye behind them, the Bears face a tough Monday night matchup against the Washington Commanders. Chicago’s still stinging from last season’s last-second Hail Mary loss and wants to prove they can bounce back.

Historically, Bears coaches haven’t had much success after the bye week. Lovie Smith was the last with a winning record, but Ben Johnson’s determined to rewrite that script. Williams is the key piece of that puzzle.
