The NFL trading and free agency talks have begun. The top prospect for the quarterback position is arguably favored by USC QB Caleb Williams. However, Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore still favors Justin Fields above all.
When asked in December who he wants to remain under center for Chicago, Moore expressed that he wants Fields “to be the quarterback,” because “he’s him.” Now, once again, it appears that Moore is not changing his mood on the quarterback status.

According to the latest post shared by “JPAFootball,” on its official X account, “#Bears wide receiver DJ Moore says that none of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft class can compare to Justin Fields.” The post also added Moore’s quotation: “I still don’t think they compare to Justin right now. The relationship jelled real well from the beginning,” Moore said about forming a bond with Fields following a trade from Carolina last offseason.” Since I got traded, he was in contact and we started throwing together, so it made the transition into games and everything easy.”

As the Bears are getting ready to evaluate potential quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL scouting, many are speculating that the franchise would select a new quarterback with their number 1 overall pick.

The 22-year-old Williams achieved impressive passing stats with 8,170 yards and 72 touchdowns, securing the Heisman Trophy in 2022. On the other hand, Fields, who is about to be 25 next month, had moderate success in three years with Chicago. He threw 40 TDs and faced 30 INTs, showcasing his dual-threat capability as one of the NFL’s most formidable running QBs.

But why is Fields the top quarterback for Moore, despite the fact that Williams too has the potential? Why doesn’t he want to gel up with another new gunslinger?
DJ Moore has two reasons to support Justin Fields!
DJ Moore’s favoring Justin Fields is not surprising, considering his exceptional performance last season. He achieved career-best numbers in catches (96 for 1,364 yards) and eight TDs while playing alongside Fields. This also suggests that Moore has established a strong connection with Fields on the gridiron, and therefore, breaking the bond might impact the game of the 26-year-old wide receiver.

Additionally, having played with Cam Newton in the latter part of Newton’s initial tenure with the Panthers, Moore witnessed the team go through a series of quarterbacks without finding a stable solution. This included Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield. Given this experience, Moore probably isn’t eager to establish a new connection with yet another quarterback in his second season with the Bears. It’s clear that he wants stability in the quarterback-wide receiver relationship.
