Aaron Rodgers was supposed to be the golden ticket for the Jets to get back into the playoffs after a 13-year hiatus. But are they any closer to the playoffs than they were in the last 13 years? Absolutely, No. The Jets are even further from where they should be with four-time NFL MVP in their ranks. After missing the last campaign with an Achilles injury, the Jets Nation had huge hopes for Rodgers to help break their playoff curse.

But the Jets QB has ended up producing his worst season in the NFL yet. Coming into the Seahawks clash, Rodgers had only racked up 2,442 passing yards with 17 TDs and a whopping seven interceptions. His decline has been steep, to say the least. You would have to go back to 2022 for the last time Rodgers had a record of seven interceptions in a season. In that year with Green Bay, Rodgers threw 12 interceptions, thereby showcasing slow signs of decline.

Even on Sunday, Rodgers threw his second pick-six of the season. Thereby allowing the Seahawks to creep back into the game. And they eventually managed to hold on and claim the victory 21-26 from the jaws of defeat. With questions surrounding his future after the Seahawks’ embarrassment, Rodgers expressed his true thoughts of leaving the NFL. Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, A-Rod called the NFL a special place, “Playing in the NFL is really special, and I love every minute of it..The game of football has given me everything, and I’m really thankful for the game.” Well, the 41-year-old didn’t just express his gratitude for playing in the NFL.

He went on to explain the one thing that keeps the game going, “The most important thing about the game is the relationships.” Although Jeff Ulbrich cleared his stance of not benching Rodgers even after his poor showing against the Seahawks. His relationship with upper management doesn’t seem to be in the same place as the Jets locker room.

Woody Johnson almost betrayed Aaron Rodgers as the Jets QB throws shade on his future in New York

There was a time when the Jets weren’t as bad as they look now. Just go back to week 4 when the Jets faced off against the Broncos at home. Coming into the clash, the Jets had the perfect opportunity to make it 3-1 for the season. However, they couldn’t even cross double-digits of points and ended up losing 9-10. Seeing that result got Woody Johnson to come up with a wild idea. He wanted the coaching staff at that time, including Robert Saleh, to bench Aaron Rodgers for backup QB Tyrod Taylor. However, they didn’t listen, and Rodgers went on to throw three interceptions against the Vikings the following week.

That poor result in London got Saleh sacked after just 5 games into the season. A few weeks later, Johnson also sacked his GM, Joe Douglas, for a complete reshuffle before the next season. So naturally, there was even speculation regarding Rodgers not coming next season. However, just like on Dec 3rd, Rodgers had a similar talk on the Pat McAfee Show last month to address the rumors of him leaving New York.

And in those thoughts, he conveyed that the powers rest in the hands of Jets owners. He doesn’t have any control over his future, “There’s a lot of things out of my control when it comes to that. But I’ve really enjoyed my time in New York. Obviously, we haven’t had the success we all wanted to have. But I’ve made some great friendships on the team.” But friendships and relationships don’t really help you win games in the NFL, right? Just look at their record and where they lie after 13 weeks in the NFL. This would give you the idea that only results matter; relationships and friendships come later.
