The 33-year-old receiver left no room for ambiguity about his future in professional football. After false retirement rumors spread across social media in August 2025, Beckham took to social media with emphatic responses, stating:

“Not done yet… thanks for y’all concerns and have a blessed day.”

He further reinforced his commitment with a stern message, warning followers against spreading retirement claims:

“No seriously. Please stop reading everything on the internet, and stop texting me happy retirement before you piss me off.”

During his Pivot Podcast interview, Beckham provided his preferred landing spots for a potential comeback: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Giants.

The Los Angeles Rams hold special significance for Beckham, who won a Super Bowl championship with the team vs. the Bengals during the 2021 season before suffering an ACL tear in that very Super Bowl victory. He has expressed particular interest in playing under head coach Sean McVay again.

The New York Giants, where Beckham’s NFL career began, also made his list, allowing for a potential full-circle narrative with the franchise that drafted him 12th overall in 2014. He also won the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2014 and earned three Pro Bowl selections in his first three NFL seasons.

However, injuries have significantly impacted his production over the past few seasons.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s injuries tell a brutal story of setbacks

Odell Beckham Jr.’s career trajectory shifted dramatically after suffering his first ACL tear in October 2020 with the Cleveland Browns. He appeared in just seven games that season, posting 23 receptions for 319 yards and three touchdowns. The injury required a full recovery period, and while he returned for the 2021 season, his output never fully rebounded.

The situation deteriorated in February 2022 when Beckham suffered his second ACL tear. This time, in his other knee, during Super Bowl LVI, while playing for the Rams. Ironically, at the time of the injury, Beckham was performing brilliantly in the Super Bowl, having caught 2 catches for 52 yards and scored 1 touchdown. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.

His 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens showed slight promise with 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns across 14 games. However, the 2024 campaign with Miami showed just 9 receptions on 18 targets for 55 yards across 9 games. This was the first season of his 11-year career without a single touchdown reception.

Beyond the two major ACL injuries, Beckham has endured a consistent pattern of ankle, hamstring, and soft-tissue injuries throughout his career. In 2017, he suffered both a high ankle sprain in the preseason and a subsequent ankle fracture in October that required surgery.

This pattern of recurring injuries has plagued Beckham’s ability to develop rhythm and consistency with any franchise. Yet despite this turbulent injury history, he is returning, proving his determination to reclaim his place in the NFL.
