The cat is out of the bag now. It is abundantly clear that billionaire David Tepper, the owner of the Carolina Panthers, wants to build a dynasty. To do that, he understands that before getting any flashy QBs, there has to be an astute Head Coach. After firing the previous HC Frank Reich, Tepper wants something different.

Great coaches reign for years, and that is what Tepper is looking for in his next coach. He wants an HC who can lead the Panthers in the coming decades. He also wants the coach to do one more thing for him in 30 or 40 years’ time.

The Panthers are having a horrid season. With just one win from the 11 games played so far, the team showed no fighting spirit under the previous HC Reich. Hence, it came as no surprise when Tepper fired Reich. Now, he is in the market for a new HC. He wants his HC not only to stay with the franchise for the next 20 or 30 years, but also to deliver his eulogy.

Though Tepper’s humor is infectious, so is his dealing with the team’s coaches. Tepper purchased the Carolina Panthers in 2018. In the last 5 years as the owner, he has fired 3 head coaches, including Reich. That is a track record any prospective coach would fear.

Chris Tabor has currently been made the Panthers’ interim coach and will look to salvage some pride in the remaining games. Tabor previously worked as a special teams coordinator for the Panthers. But come January, Tepper will certainly hire a new coach.

Tabor will have his hands full as the Panthers travel to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This game has no playoff implications but could have some impact on the draft order for next year. With both teams on a losing streak, this game is bound to end one team at least.

As the Buccaneers will try to snap out of their losing streak, the Panthers will try to stop their slide down the ranks and look to get a win for their new HC. This will be a battle for pride and draft position, as both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention.
