Extension season in Buffalo keeps on delivering gifts for the Bills Mafia. It all started with Gregory Rousseau’s $80M extension, followed by the Bills’ exceptional 2022 draft class. Terrel Bernard’s $50M and Khalil Shakir’s $60.2M extensions. Of course, there was also Josh Allen’s monstrous $330M extension. But the last domino who was yet to fall was probably their sixth-round gem, Christian Benford. At one time, Benford was predicted he wouldn’t even make the team. But now his contract extension makes him the 13th highest-paid corner in the league.

As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills are re-signing Christian Benford to a whopping 4-year, $76M contract. Among his other batchmates, Benford’s $19M per-season extension ranks at the top. Actually, based upon some other deals corners have received this offseason, Benford’s deal is a steal for the Bills.

Houston gave Derek Stingley a mammoth $90M extension worth $30M per season, making him the highest-paid corner in the league. Then, it’s followed by Panthers Jaycee Horn’s $25M per year contract. Some other big money moves had the Colts signing 49ers CB Charvarius Ward to an $18M per year contract. The Vikings re-signed their corner Byron Murphy, also at $18M per year. No matter which franchise paid their corner a deal, they thought it suited their worth. Whatever the Bills paid for Benford still doesn’t show his real worth in the Bills’ secondary.

Starting 34 of his 39 games, Benford has 5 interceptions, one sack, and 142 tackles to his name. Astonishingly, across 1,362 coverage snaps, Benford found himself involved in. He has only allowed 5 TDs. Insane, right? Well, there’s more. Last season, Benford solidified his status as a shutdown corner. He only allowed 8.5 yards per completion, a career-best number for him. Still, only 24 Benford was also AP’s Defensive Player of the Year finalist.

So, judging by the $76M contract he received. It isn’t a surprise at all that the Bills had him in their plans of an extension spree. While Buffalo might be rejoicing in their team’s intent to sign Benford back, Josh Allen caught some unwanted strays.

Even in the off-season, the Chiefs continue to haunt Josh Allen

See, there’s absolutely no doubt in Josh Allen’s talents. In his last 6 seasons, he has never failed to get the Bills in the postseason. But he is yet to lead them past the AFC title game. And that’s probably the reason why Allen is still not getting the respect he absolutely deserves.

CBS Sports writer Jeff Kerr believes Allen’s postseason troubles against the Chiefs will continue to hurt his legacy. “Allen is a great quarterback and has all the intangibles to win a Super Bowl. Since the Bills can’t beat the Chiefs in the playoffs (where Allen is 0-4 against Mahomes), the pressure is constantly on Allen and Buffalo to win that elusive first Super Bowl title,” Kerr wrote in his report.

Last season, it even came down to a botched Tush Push attempt on the fourth down against the Chiefs. Failing to convert it led to the Bills eventually losing 32-29. And considering Allen has just signed a $330M extension, that makes him the second-richest QB in the league. Kerr emphasizing that the pressure on Allen to deliver isn’t a joke. Right now, Allen needs to end this Chiefs drought in the postseason, no matter how. Then take the Bills to Super Bowl glory, which they are yet to get a taste of after losing 4 in a row in the 90s.
