Josh Allen has long become the favorite on the field for the fans. Especially after his Week 1 heroics against the Baltimore Ravens helped the Buffalo Bills run away with a 41-40 comeback victory. Seasoned veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick added another chapter to his enduring bond with the Bills. How do you measure a quarterback’s rise into the company of legends? For Ryan Fitzpatrick, one play showed Josh Allen orchestrating protection, shifting personnel, and exploiting the defense.

“He’s orchestrating. He puts James Cook on the left side. They run in protection. There’s a free rusher coming from the right, and he sneaks him across. It’s a play that they said, ‘Look, if we get this look, this is the play we want to be in.’ He executes it perfectly. He gets everybody set up for that play, the clock is coming down, and Cook catches it and goes for about 50.” Fitzpatrick said while speaking to Kevin Clark on ESPN’s This is Football.

The Ravens led 40-25 with 11:42 left after a quick four-play, 65+ yard touchdown drive. His comeback drive in the fourth quarter was remarkable. Buffalo scored 16 unanswered points in the final 3:56, erasing a 15-point deficit. In the final 11:07, Allen passed for 251 yards, threw one TD, ran for two more, and posted a 131.3 rating. Allen recorded his seventh career game with two passing and two rushing touchdowns, the most in NFL history.

In that same interview with Kevin Clark, Ryan Fitzpatrick further said, “So there are little things in the game like that where he’s now become on the level of the Tom Bradys and the Pey Mannings, where if he gets a look and he’s prepared for the look, he’s not going to miss,” He compared Josh Allen to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for executing precise reads and clutch plays under pressure.

“It’s not for everybody. You’ve got to be a little sick to love this game. We got some sickos,” Allen told the reporters post-game. Buffalo became the first NFL team to win after allowing 40+ points and 235+ rushing yards, breaking a 0-277 mark. This performance showed pocket poise, sharp reads, and dual-threat ability that define the greats.

Under new coach Aaron Glenn, QB Justin Fields led the Jets to 394 yards and two rushing scores. The Jets’ defense gave up big plays in Pittsburgh, surrendering over 8 yards per snap in the fourth. However, Buffalo has controlled the rivalry with an 8-2 record, often winning by more than eight points since 2020. They enter as favorites again, yet New York’s offense poses a real test for their defensive depth.
