Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews both started their sports media career at Fox Sports. Both became prominent at the beginning with ESPN and carved their way back to Fox. Signing an extension on their contract before the start of the NFL season. Thompson and Andrews co-host the popular “Calm Down” podcast. After the 2024 NFL season, Erin Andrews’ contract with Fox expired, making her a free agent. But Andrews and Fox agreed to a new deal for the 2025 NFL regular season. 

In a sudden Instagram Story blast, Charissa Thompson declared Erin Andrews as her “best,” adding a sharp barb at Jay Glazer, who had earlier claimed that title. Jay Glazer posted on his story claiming, “I thought I was your best friend @charissajthompson I’m a little hurt with you @erinandrews.” 

Thompson responded with a caption, “We’re the three best friends that anyone could have.”  

Longtime Fox NFL Sunday insider Glazer has openly praised his relationship with Thompson, but her support for Andrews now appears to contradict that claim. Glazer frequently appears on Fox’s studio shows for NFL pregame. Another instance when Thompson poked fun at Glazer was during ‘FOX NFL Kickoff’ while transitioning to Glazer for his ‘In the Know’ segment on the show.

“Well, you guys are saying little guys, and this is not nice of me to say, Jay Glazer, but I have to do it,” Charissa Thompson said.  While Glazer just stood there with his hands out in front, in his ‘Why?’ moment.

Charissa Thompson hosts the Sunday NFL Kickoff pregame show on Fox and the Thursday Night Football pregame show on Amazon Prime Video. The tension in the relationships among Fox’s NFL personalities off-air is evident in the social media snub. Glazer will have to deal with dropping from best friend status, at least in name, while Thompson and Andrews continue to dominate Fox’s NFL media presence.

During a preview clip for her podcast Calm Down with Erin & Charissa, Charissa Thompson turned attention from playful banter to heartfelt praise for Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP. The Instagram Story clip surfaced just as she remarked, “Josh Allen, can I just give Josh Allen a shout out. This is the reigning MVP of the league. He is a class. I just adore him. He is everything that the NFL is so lucky to have.”

The Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is coming into the 2025 campaign on a high note. He has a passer rating of 108.8 after throwing for 755 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions in three games. He engineered an incredible comeback in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, winning 41–40, by combining rushing and throwing production to rally late. His 66th career rushing touchdown also set a franchise record.  

Thompson’s gesture felt consistent with her broadcasting style, warm, sports-driven, and personal. She often bridges the gap between the field and media by acknowledging standout performances and forming on-air bonds with players.
