The Buffalo Bills secured a dominant 31-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. However, the scare is not over for both ends, as the league has released its newest list of players and their fines for their actions in the previous game. Unfortunately, the Bills player made it to the list. The NFL fined Bills linebacker Dorian Williams for “unnecessary roughness” due to a blindside block in the second quarter of the game.

He may appeal any ruling that will be reviewed by the appeal officers and former NFL players to make the final decision. In William’s case, he will have to pay $7,989 as a fine. Not just the Bills, a Saints linebacker Nephi Sewell was also fined for “roughing the kicker” and he will pay a hefty price of $12,172 for it. As per the rules, the fund money will go to the Professional Athletes Foundation.

As for Williams, he even had the starting job in the last two games in the absence of linebacker Matt Milano, who is tending to his pectoral muscle.
Williams got the starting position last year after Milano sustained a torn biceps during training camp last season. And the Bills player had quickly found his footing with his impressive performance. He reportedly had more tackles (117) than anyone else on the team.

And his skills caught the attention of Tom Blair, who praised him. “Luckily for me, Buffalo turned to Williams as an injury replacement for Matt Milano,” Blair said, and that “at one of the most underappreciated positions in the league.”
He was impactful despite only making 11 starts in the year. The Tulane product posted a career-high 12 stops on three different occasions, and his three fumble recoveries were tied for the most in the NFL among all defenders.

Blair even made a bold prediction that Williams will become a crucial player for the Bills. “With Milano heading into Year 9,” Blair said. “The Bills must be heartened to know they have a youngster in-house who can step up if needed,” Blair said. Unfortunately, the player hasn’t been able to show his best just yet this season.
To make matters worse, Williams is now dealing with an injury.
Is Dorian Williams’ injury serious?
In a recent press conference, head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that Williams will be out of the Bills’ game against the Patriots in Week 5. Another Bills cornerback, Dorian Strong, is also expected to be sidelined for Week 5 due to injury.
“Injury update: both Dorians — so [LB] Dorian Williams and [CB] Dorian Strong — will not practice and they will be out for the game [against the Patriots],” McDermott said. However, coach McDermott didn’t share any further details on the player’s timeline to return.

New reports suggest that Strong is put into injured reserve. As for Williams, not much is known about his return. But if he is unable to play or perform well, coach McDermott might explore other options, such as giving a chance to the veteran linebacker Shaq Thompson.
It remains to be seen how McDermott moves ahead without his two defensive starters for the Week 5 game.
