Is Dak Prescott's walking boot controversy blown out of proportion, or is there real cause for concern?

Dak Prescott finally breaks the silence! The Dallas Cowboys QB has been a subject of controversy recently. In July 2024, images emerged of Prescott enjoying holidays with his girlfriend Sarah Jane Ramos in Cabo San Lucas. Though it is nothing unusual, the photos went viral after fans spotted him walking with a protective boot! However, the QB later posted another picture on his Instagram stories where he ditched the boot.

It created a lot of chatter online about whether Dak would be present for the upcoming preseason training camp later in July or not. However, reports later cleared the doubt on his injury status. Apparently, the boots were just a precautionary measure after the NFL star felt a minor foot sprain. In his latest appearance at the Southlake Carroll High School, Prescott issued further clarification on the walking boots.

Yes, definitely

No, he's a pro

Maybe, time will tell

As per ESPN’s Todd Archer, the 30-year-old revealed he was experiencing “soreness” on his right ankle after two “hard workouts.” Reassuring the fans, he also claimed the injury would not be a big issue come the preseason game and practice. The America’s Team fans will surely breathe a sigh of relief that their starting QB’s ankle, which was surgically repaired in 2020, is holding up quite well!

Not just that, the QB also revealed that the contract talks with Jerry Jones’ franchise are also progressing quite well. Notably, Dak Prescott will be a free agent come the 2025 season if he can’t come to terms with a new contract with the Cowboys.

Dak Prescott is relaxed about his contract situation

Dak Prescott’s current contract is worth $160 million with an obscene $66 million signing bonus. Hence, it’s only reasonable that his new contract is an upgrade to the previous one. Prescott is also 30 and potentially signing the last big contract of his NFL career. However, as the Cowboys’ QB clarified previously, he isn’t chasing money. It doesn’t look like his stance has changed at all!

After his Southlake Carroll High School appearance, Prescott said, “There’s been conversations back and forth.” However, the Sulphur, Louisiana native, wants his agent Todd France to take care of all the monetary details. The player just wants to focus on his game – “Day 1 of training camp, my mind flips to absolutely helping my team… the money and all that will take care of itself as it always has.”

This offseason has been quite eventful for the Dallas Cowboys. From CeeDee Lamb’s contract holdout to Micah Parsons’ beef with teammate Malik Hooker to head coach Mike McCarthy’s cold war with owner Jerry Jones, Cowboys fans have endured quite a lot! So, having Dak Prescott fit and ready to go for the upcoming season will give the fans something to cheer about.
