With a dream to get another Lombardi this year, the Chiefs have a chance to right one of their biggest wrongs. And that is passing over wide receiver, DK Metcalf, not once but twice in the 2019 NFL Drafts. After all, with Patrick Mahomes eyeing yet another title win this upcoming season, the quarterback could need all the help he can get. Now, ahead of the scheduled September kickoffs, super fans of the team are sharing advice for the Chiefs’ general manager, Brett Veach.

In a post on X, a film analyst for the Kansas City Chiefs, Seth Reysor, claimed that the team was lacking a receiver on the roster, while the Seahawks seemed to have no cap space. The Athletic NFL contributor also added that it was sure to bore him once the season began, before bringing other people into the debate. With other fans stating that Mahomes’ team should trade one of their players for DK Metcalf, the founder of The Chiefs Corner, Chris Clark also added his two cents.
Re DK Metcalf – So essentially he’s guaranteed his $13 million this year. Looks like his option bonus was already paid as well so it seems the Chiefs would only be on the hook for $13 million this year and a non guaranteed $18 million in ‘25… @RealMNchiefsfan https://t.co/yh5xmUT0Kw

Clark stated that the Chiefs had a good chance to get the receiver. After all, Metcalf’s contract with the Seahawks would be ending in 2025, and with his guaranteed $13 million for this year already paid, it could open the doors for Kansas to finally land a talented wide receiver. However, they would have to cough up a non-guaranteed offer of $18 million in a year’s time.
While the team has not made any comments on getting another new player after the Draft, it could end up happening. After all, just ahead of this year’s draft, the Chiefs’ GM had revealed that passing on the 26-year-old had not been his best idea.

Brett Veach regrets passing on DK Metcalf
In an episode of Harvick’s Happy Hour podcast from last year, Chiefs GM Brett Veach and the host discussed DK Metcalf. With the 46-year-old having skipped over the Ole Miss wide receiver 5 years ago, they wound up comparing the players that had been drafted at the same time like Kansas’ Mecole Hardman Jr. After all, he had been chosen at the same time as the 26-year-old. However, their stats seemed to tell different stories.

With the Seattle Seahawks receiver having well over twice the receptions (372), yards (5,332), and touchdowns (43) than Hardman in his career, Veach could not help but admit that he had made a mistake. He even stated, “I think looking back on DK, there were areas that we weren’t sure on.” However, the 46-year-old added that there were none that should have “prompted” them to “bypass him.”

The general manager even revealed that Metcalf was the “one player that sticks out,” when asked if he could turn back the clock and make some drafting changes. With Veach having regrets about the athlete and new rumors surfacing about the Chiefs calling on the Seahawks for a trade, there is no saying what plot twists could happen before the season begins in September.
