The Tennessee Titans are shaping the future of their team with some bold moves and key players. Cam Ward, the highly anticipated new quarterback and No. 1 overall pick, captured the attention of fans and analysts during the recent rookie minicamp. On the second day of practice, Ward addressed the media, exuding confidence and the potential of a franchise quarterback.

“It felt great,” Ward expressed. “Day 2 getting it in, myself and some of the other rookies on the team, feel good to throw the ball, get some timing down with the receiver, see the defense work. But it’s been good.” This promising start is just the beginning, as the Titans are poised to make impactful decisions that could transform their lineup moving forward.

The Titans are shaking things up with a new addition to their team. On Monday, Pro Football Talk shared that the Titans have signed WR TJ Sheffield following his impressive tryout at the rookie minicamp over the weekend. As per his agent Brett Tessler, Sheffield’s journey began at Purdue in 2019, where he played for five years before transferring to UConn for the 2024 season. Last year, he managed to snag 54 passes for 505 yards and secured three touchdowns.

Over his college career, Sheffield played in 59 games, catching 172 passes for 1,714 yards and pulling in 14 touchdowns. During his redshirt freshman season, he played in six games and earned recognition as an Academic All-BIG TEN player. Rated as a four-star wide receiver by ESPN and a three-star by 247Sports and Rivals, he was even a finalist for the Mr. Football award in his senior year. It seems like this minicamp is proving to be quite productive!

Meanwhile, Ward got candid about his fellow rookies. He had some good things to say about receivers Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike, noting the potential for building solid chemistry with them. “It’s been real good, especially E — he’s a supposed route runner,” Ward mentioned. “Chim from Florida, he’s an explosive route runner as well. I think Coach Callahan added speed as well, even though we already had it. And I just think me adjusting to those guys, what they’ve been showing me already, and what I have to continue to show them, it’s been good.”

But what really stood out from Ward’s chat was how much he values knowing everyone in the organization, from top to bottom, including custodians and cafeteria staff. “From learning the custodians’ names, the cafeteria, and the great building, to the front office, all the way to my teammates,” Ward said. He’s still working on meeting everyone since some are currently off, but he plans to handle that on Monday. He’s pumped about this next chapter with the team and can’t wait for the wheels to start turning.

With the preseason and regular-season schedule to be announced on May 14 during the NFL’s official release, Ward seems ready to make his mark on the Titans — and apparently, he’s having an influence on roster decisions too.
