Perhaps the quarterback drama never really ended for the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has landed in hot water as the team sits at 1-5. And even this, with a big issue on the offense. The huge one among them is the question in the quarterback’s room.

Jason Lloyd, in his report, traced the issue to the team’s current struggles back to the time when the Browns acquired Watson, who is still on the PUP list recovering from injury. Now, the team is unable to pursue quarterbacks like Daniel Jones. Their former starting QBs, Kenny Pickett (Raiders) and Joe Flacco (Bengals), are both on different teams, leaving them to rely on rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

“The Browns don’t have a quarterback,” Lloyd wrote, “don’t have tackles who can protect the quarterback, don’t have receivers who can get downfield or create separation, and don’t have receivers who can catch the ball. They’re among the league leaders in drops.”

Then, the Browns received another harsh verdict from Lloyd. “Good thing this season was never about winning,” he wrote. “Check back in again next year or maybe 2027. At least they have a dome coming in four years. Maybe they’ll have a quarterback by then. Maybe.”

As per Adam Schefter, Watson might not be able to return until a month, as he is rehabilitating from his Achilles tendon injury that he sustained last season. Now, the Browns will be in a tricky spot if Watson returns healthy next month. They would have to put him on the active roster or release him, which could trigger a massive $131 million cap hit in 2026.

Apart from the obvious issues with the QB, Lloyd also pointed out the other flaws on the team.

“All five starting offensive linemen are eligible for free agency after the season,” Lloyd wrote, calling out the Browns’ issues. “Yet the Browns refused to draft a lineman in the spring. The only lineman they’ve taken over the last two years, Zak Zinter, is so bad he’s not even active on Sundays.”

He may have hinted at the tackles Dawand Jones and Jack Conklin, along with left guard Joel Bitonio, right guard Wyatt Teller, and center Ethan Pocic, who will be eligible for free agency next season. While the five starting linemen haven’t been able to make an impact so far, the coach has also addressed the issues with the team.

Kevin Stefanski has serious troubles with the offensive line

Now, ahead of the 23-9 loss to the Steelers, Stefanski made a promise to improve the roster.

“We have to get it fixed,” the coach mentioned. “Before you start winning, you have to stop losing. We’re doing things now that are preventing us from winning. So we’ll get it fixed.” The game didn’t end that way for the Browns, though. Not just the fans, the Browns’ players are equally frustrated.

The Browns’ struggles on the offensive side were evident with the team settling for 3 points. While their defense was decent, successfully stopping the big play but it struggled to stop Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Several wrong decisions backfired for the Browns.

One such was relying on cornerback Tyson Campbell to stop WR DK Metcalf. The offense just couldn’t get anything going, either on the ground or through the air, racking up only 65 rushing yards and 183 passing yards.

The Browns must look to improve their offense and break the losing streak to hope for any success this season.
