It’s hard to tell what’s testing Shedeur Sanders more…his luck or the Cleveland Browns‘ decision-making. After the Joe Flacco trade, fans thought this was finally his shot to climb the QB ladder and maybe even take the center. But instead, he barely held on to the QB2 spot after a back injury that sidelined him for the week 8 game against the Patriots. And now, to make things more concerning, Kevin Stefanski is making him fight all over again for the same position he already earned.

“Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Sanders will be limited in practice today. He wants to see how he responds before committing to him as QB2 on Sunday,” Daniel Oyefusi, Cleveland Browns reporter for ESPN, wrote on his X. This decision has left many confused. ESPN Cleveland’s radio host, Tony Rizzo, even asked about why the rookie still wasn’t on the field in practice.

“Why has Shedeur Sanders not gotten on the field? I want everybody’s opinion on this. I cannot for the life of me figure out what’s going on. Something’s going on,” Rizzo lamented. “I’m telling you what I’m hearing. I’m not hearing anything. I’m hearing a bunch of stuff I don’t wanna believe, but I don’t know what’s legit or not. So I’m gonna tell you that I honestly don’t know what’s going on.”

While Stefanski is unsure about his QB2, his counterpart in the New York Jets is keeping it under wraps for their QB as well.

The “QB mystery” remains in New York

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has refused to publicly disclose who will be the starting quarterback for the Jets in their Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns. He stated that the starting quarterback will be informed well ahead of the game, but he prefers to keep the decision private for his own reasons, emphasizing that it is a conversation between the coach and the player.

“You know I’m not going to give you that answer,” Glenn said when asked about the centre role for the Browns game. “The thing is, you will find out soon who our starting quarterback will be. Justin did a hell of a job against Cincinnati, but you know, I’m going to keep that close to the vest.”

Glenn remained firm in not revealing whether Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor will start, despite multiple inquiries from the media. He mentioned that this approach does not affect the quarterback’s confidence since the player knows his role internally.

Through eight games this season, the Jets have rolled with Justin Fields as their starter in seven of them. He’s thrown for 1,089 yards and five touchdowns with a 64.1% completion rate, while also adding 288 rushing yards and three scores on the ground. While his performance doesn’t appear to be that bad on paper, Fields has failed to take his team to climb the ladder of the AFC East. So it would be interesting to see if Glenn will go with Fields or if there will be a new face at the center.
