The Cleveland Browns’ offense simply hasn’t found its footing this season. Joe Flacco’s departure thrust Dillon Gabriel into the spotlight, with the rookie struggling. A week after the offense scored just nine points, DE Myles Garrett did not mince his words.

“It’s only gotten worse with time,” Garrett said. “Without the threat of us putting up a lot of points, they have no fear of running the score up or punting. So it’s like we can punt, we’ll get the ball back, eventually we’ll wear em down and we’ll start to score, eventually. In their heads, it’s like we don’t have to do much.”

It’s hard to argue with Garrett, as the Browns have not crossed the 18-point mark this entire season. If we include last season, it stretches to 11 games (a franchise record). Unfortunately, there are no signs that things are going to get better.

Cleveland currently ranks dead last in the NFL in scoring, averaging just 13.7 points per game. They’re also near the bottom in yards per play (4.1), which tells you everything you need to know about how stagnant this unit has been. Unfortunately, there are no signs that indicate it’s going to get any better. That’s where Myles Garrett’s comments come in.

… short drives, and risking minimal exposure to the Browns’ league-leading pass rush. It’s working… too long. But Garrett isn’t wasting any time sulking.

Opponents know they won’t need 30 points to win. So instead of taking risks, they’re playing conservative football: quick throws, short drives, and risking minimal exposure to the Browns’ league-leading pass rush. It’s working, and it’s leaving Cleveland’s defense on the field way too long. But Garrett isn’t wasting any time sulking.

He’s laying out frameworks to keep the Miami offense in check. The plan is definitely not centered around the Browns’ offense, as you’d expect.

Myles Garrett’s Week 7 plan vs. the Dolphins

After calling out his own offense, Garrett immediately pivoted to the challenge that awaits them on Sunday: the Miami Dolphins. He tried to lay down a full-on defensive framework in the press conference.

“An offense that likes to stay on time,” Garrett said, talking about the Dolphins’ offense. “They want to run the ball, they want to get on the edge, they want to get out to the guys on the perimeter, and get those quick passes over the middle. If we can get them away from that, it’ll play into our favor. We have to knock out the run.”

While Myles is making a big deal of the Dolphins’ offense, their Week 7 clash might be the golden opportunity for the Browns’ offense to finally show up.

Through the first stretch of 2025, the Dolphins have conceded over 1,000 rushing yards, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Their defense has been a mess. 29th in points allowed this season. Such a defense would allow the Browns’ QB Dillon Gabriel more time on the ball, and the low run defense will allow RB Quinshon Judkins to unleash his full potential, who has racked up 383 yards in five starts.

With both teams sitting at 1-5, who do you think will come out on top at Huntington Bank Field?
