I don’t think that’s my place, you know, to answer it, to even be able to give the answer to that.” Despite Shedeur Sanders not getting reps with the first team, the star wasn’t giving up. After all, in a team with three other quarterbacks, the 144th pick knew things were going to be tough. He explained, “Lot of people that want to have the opportunity to be at this level, and I’m here, and I’m thankful to have the opportunity.” Now, it seems like Sandeurs is giving it his all.

An eventful Saturday training camp saw Shedeur Sanders topping the charts ahead of the others. Finishing the day with 8/11 completions and 3 TDs, he stole the show and pulled the rug from the other QBs. It was an end to a week-long broil that had him getting reps outside of the first team. But Shedeur persisted and believed in himself, “I know who I am as an individual, and I know what I could bring to this team,” he said. And he showed he meant it when he threw a dime to Diontae Johnson that day.

The play of the day had Shedeur arrow in a pass to Johnson, who made a run behind the linebacker, for the touchdown. It was a play straight out of the textbook and had coaches expressing their admiration. However, it wasn’t enough to shake Stefanski, who refused to change the order in the QB depth Chart. But since Pickett has picked up a recent injury in the hamstring, and is set to miss out for an undetermined period. He may be forced to play his wild card early.

And Shedeur is all the more eager to get things moving. He doesn’t want to be stuck at the tail forever. The young rookie is not just a one-time wonder, as he made sure to turn heads yesterday as well. Insider Brad Stainbook posted a video of yesterday’s 11-on-11s where Shedeur Sanders took off. A snap saw the defence rush, but Shedeur slinked through the pocket with a confidence unseen in a rookie. Under pressure, he made it look so easy as he threw a looping pass, straight into the hands of Gage Larvadain. Touchdown. Poetry in motion. The crowd couldn’t believe it and threw their hands up in cheers. But the crowd on X, who saw the TC on video, is a lot tougher.

29 needs cut today. Not tomorrow.” The 29 in question is cornerback Cameron Mitchell, who stepped back from making a tackle on Larvadain at the end zone. However, training camp reps usually see the players taking it easier. After all, they are in the same team and wouldn’t want to cause an accidental injury. Speaking of injuries, Kenny Pickett’s hamstring has put him out, but it also leaves a window of opportunity for Gabriel and Shedeur to rank higher in the depth chart. Out of the two rookies, however, Myles Garrett has chosen his favourite already.

Sheduer Sanders is Garrett’s QB1

A play of the day TD wasn’t enough to call it a day for Shedeur. He was still on the grass after practice ended as the other players left the field. But two others stayed with him. 5-time Pro Bowler and 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, as well as center Brady Latham. The two stayed to help Shedeur get in reps for snaps.

Insider Daniel Oyefusi posted a video of three, with the caption “Browns QB Shedeur Sanders working on snap exchanges with center Brady Latham after practice, following some botched snaps in the first couple days of camp. Myles Garrett playfully came along for one play to give Latham a look as a pass rusher.” Myles Garett has been reported to help both the rookies, Shedeur and Dillon. He has also remarked that it’s not like a QB battle royal inside the Browns’ boundaries. In fact the QBs have been helping each other out.

What’s your perspective on:

With Pickett out, is it time for Shedeur Sanders to prove he's the Browns' future QB?

Have an interesting take?

“I’ve really seen that they help each other and they work together,” Garrett said at training camp. “The guys are not afraid to make a mistake, go out there and try to make a play… they’re not afraid to seek each other out and make each other better.”  The collaborative efforts in the Browns’ roster have been rubbing off on each other. Garett has also chipped in to throw some gems the rookies’ way. We can only hope this continues further, even after the season starts.
