This year has been special for quarterback Baker Mayfield. He has delivered MVP-caliber performances for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the field. It is also an equally special time in his personal life, as he and his wife prepare to welcome a new member to their family.

The couple just announced that they are expecting their second child with a heartwarming joint Instagram post.

“New addition coming April 2026, and we couldn’t feel luckier,” the caption read.

The carousel post had a picture of their daughter, Kova Jade Mayfield, proudly holding the ultrasound images. She wore an adorable pink T-shirt with the words “Big Sis” printed on it. Other photos showed the family celebrating the special moment, which appeared to be quite an intimate gender reveal gathering.

And the blue filling inside the cake could also be a hint that the couple may be expecting a baby boy. Many, including Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, quickly flooded the comments section to congratulate the couple.

“Ahhhh congrats guys!!!” Brittany wrote in the comments section.

While Mahomes and Mayfield have been rivals on the field since their college days, their families share a great friendship off it. So, Brittany had to join in on the virtual celebration. After all, it was a huge moment for the couple.

Mayfield may be one of the toughest football players, but he turns into a gentle and doting father when it comes to his child. He has often spoken about how fatherhood transformed his life.

“As soon as I saw her, I’m like, ‘Oh, she’s got me wrapped around her finger,’ ” Baker said in an interview. “The protective instincts come out, and you now realize what the priorities are.”

The couple welcomed their first child on April 9, 2024, five years after tying the knot in 2019. Their daughter, lovingly called “Koko,” is her dad’s biggest fan and is often seen at games cheering him on. She attended the Bucs’ final preseason game against the Miami Dolphins back in August 2024.

Now, as the couple is excited to welcome another MVP into their family, their friends and loved ones couldn’t help but jump in to congratulate them.

And not just Brittany, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold’s fiancée, Katie Hoofnagle, also commented on the post.

“Congrats guys,” she wrote along with a white heart emoji.

For this huge day, the family didn’t forget to include another important member, their dog, Fergus, who will earn the “big brother” title once again. Fergus even made an appearance in the couple’s gender-reveal photos and is always spotted in their most special moments.

When Emily found out about her first pregnancy, she revealed the news to Baker in a playful way by putting a “Big Brother Fergus” bandana around Fergus’ neck. However, this led to hilarious confusion as Mayfield initially thought they were getting another dog instead of having a baby.

Hopefully, he didn’t have any such confusion this time.

Host and sportscaster Charissa Thompson also congratulated the couple and commented on the post, “Congratulations you guys… so happy for you.” Kay Adams also dropped a heart emoji.

Now, it’s rare for Mayfield to open up about his personal life. But he candidly shared that he and his wife went through a challenging time during his injury. In 2022, while he was recovering from surgery on his torn labrum, the couple was also struggling to conceive.

“At this time, we were trying to have kids,” Mayfield shared in a recent interview. “It wasn’t going well.”

Despite the rough patch, they leaned on each other and made it through together. Safe to say, they’re a true power couple in every sense.

“So excited for you guys,” Trevor Lawrence’s Marissa Lawrence wrote in the comments section. And not just their friends, Tay Lautner also joined the rest to congratulate the couple.
