The undefeated Tampa Bay Buccaneers face their toughest test yet against the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Chris Godwin are both nursing injuries, but an NFL insider has shared the latest on their expected availability for Sunday.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweeted on X that Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (right biceps), wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle), and offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee), all listed as questionable, are expected to be good to go for Sunday’s game.
In three games this season, Mayfield has thrown for 615 yards and 6 touchdowns with a 61.6% completion rate. Most impressively, he hasn’t thrown a single interception. His 99.5 passer rating shows he is keeping the offense steady and avoiding costly mistakes. He sustained his right biceps injury during the Bucs’ Week 3 win over the Jets.

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles kept it simple during his Friday press conference on September 27, 2025: “Should be OK for Sunday.” That’s encouraging news for Tampa Bay, with quarterback Mayfield expected to start and both wide receiver Godwin and left tackle Wirfs on track to make their season debuts.

Godwin, who missed most of the 2024 season with an ankle injury, returned to full practice in August and signed a three-year, $66 million extension this offseason. In 2023, he recorded 83 receptions for 1,017 yards.
With WR Mike Evans sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Godwin would give Mayfield a proven target in a depleted receiving corps.

Tristan Wirfs, a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, underwent knee surgery in July and has missed the preseason and the Buccaneers’ first three games. While he is officially listed as questionable for Week 4, Wirfs told reporters this week that he is finally “pain-free”, a promising sign.
If both players do suit up, it would give Tampa Bay a much-needed boost in talent and leadership heading into their toughest matchup yet. And the timing couldn’t be better.
A battle of wills at Raymond James
The Philadelphia Eagles come into Raymond James Stadium as 3.5-point favorites, and it’s easy to see why. They’ve looked dominant, and even Saquon Barkley has warned teams not to take them lightly.
Jalen Hurts is playing at an elite level. He has thrown for 479 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions, and he has added 117 rushing yards and 4 more touchdowns. He just led the Eagles to a 33-point win over the Rams, and analysts agree, he is driving a team that looks ready to reclaim its championship.
The Buccaneers’ offense has been solid but not explosive.

In their close 29-27 win over the Jets, Baker Mayfield played smart, 19-of-29 for 233 yards and a touchdown. But against a team like the Eagles, they’ll need more than just smart play. That’s where Chris Godwin comes in.
With 579 career catches and 7,266 receiving yards, he is the kind of weapon Tampa Bay needs right now.

Also, getting left tackle Wirfs back to protect Mayfield’s blindside is a major boost for the Buccaneers. His return couldn’t come at a better time, with Tampa Bay preparing to face a relentless Eagles pass rush.
Both Mayfield and wide receiver Chris Godwin are expected to play, but the real question is how effective they’ll be against one of the NFL’s toughest defenses.
