The Pittsburgh Steelers’ devastating Wild Card playoff loss to the Houston Texans on January 12, 2026, ended their 2025 run. Mike Tomlin willingly ended his 19-year tenure as head coach the next day. He joined NBC Sports as a studio analyst for Football Night in America in April, a predictable deviation in a former coach’s career path. What NFL fans did not see coming, however, was a new YouTube channel featuring content that had virtually nothing to do with football.

Tomlin unveiled a surprising side of himself via a new YouTube channel he started, exploring a massive Minecraft city he began creating with his children 12 years ago. After Tomlin announced his YouTube channel on X, the NFL responded. Dino then reposted the NFL’s comment with a question:

“IF IT’S GOOD CAN I GET A JOB INTERVIEW??” the younger Tomlin posted.

Dino Tomlin, 25, is currently a free agent who played wide receiver first at Maryland and then at Boston College during his college days. He went undrafted in 2025, after which he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for rookie training camp. However, he failed to secure a roster spot with the Bucs.

Dino Tomlin’s direct appeal to the NFL pointed directly to his failed attempt to enter the league. Per Marca, critics earlier this year suggested he use family connections to get into coaching. Dino’s post was his response. The 25-year-old made it clear that he wanted to build his career using his own merits rather than relying on his father’s reputation.

Dino’s repost of the NFL’s response suggests that he is still looking for an opportunity to kickstart his pro football career in the league. But his video editing skills and tech-savvy approach did not go unnoticed and could open other doors for him.

In fact, in the first video posted on Tomlin’s channel, titled ‘EP 1: ROOFTOPS, PENTHOUSES, AND URBAN LIVING,’ the ex-Steelers coach proudly announced that his son had helped him edit the video.

Tomlin first revealed his love for Minecraft and how it had helped him connect with his three children during an August 2026 appearance on NBC’s Today. He spoke about how his children helped him preserve his in-game creations across three generations of PlayStation consoles. He added that Dino had been the one to suggest that he share his city, which he created over 12 years, with the world.

“When they come home, they’re like, ‘Hey, Dad, put your city up; let me see what’s up.’ My kids, they’ve taken it from PS3 to PS4 to PS5. They’re into preserving it because they know I don’t have the technical knowledge. But we’ve been talking recently about sharing it with the world. My oldest son is like, ‘Dad, you’ve got to share this with the world. People need to see this city that you’ve been working on for 12 years,” Tomlin said to Today host Craig Melvin.

Besides Tomlin’s new YouTube channel showcasing his Minecraft metropolis, the former head coach remains with NBC Sports’ pregame show Football Night in America as a studio analyst. In fact, many found his style of media analysis, direct and without any sugarcoating, refreshing.

Tomlin remained as the Steelers’ head coach for 19 consecutive years. He led the team to 13 playoff appearances, eight division titles, three AFC Championship Games, and two Super Bowl appearances, one of which ended with the Steelers’ win. He also won the Super Bowl prior to his time at Pittsburgh, during his stint at Tampa Bay as defensive backs coach.

Just like his son, Tomlin does not seem to have given up on making a return to the league. However, he doesn’t seem very anxious to return to coaching anytime soon. As far as Dino Tomlin is concerned, the young wide receiver continues training while also pitching into his father’s latest venture.
