The UFL kicker for the San Antonio Brahmas and renowned YouTuber Deestroying has recently faced a setback. A UFL insider, James Larsen, shared an update about the kicker’s condition. Unfortunately, he has been injured and placed on the IR for several weeks. This news has deeply affected his fans, who have united in their prayers for his swift recovery. Notably, Kyler Murray, the Cardinals QB, also expressed his support, demonstrating the strong bond within the sports community.
Larsen posted on X: “Brutal news for Deestroying: he has been placed on the injured reserve list. Minimum of five weeks on IR for any #UFL player. You hate to see it. Prayers up for @Deestroying🙏.” Following Larsen’s footsteps, the Cardinals QB supported the Brahmas kicker on X.
Murray shared a brief, heartfelt message on X, “Speedy recovery bro.. @Deestroying.” Per sources, the exact severity of his injury is yet to be confirmed, but it is known that he sustained it during the game against the Memphis Showboats. Dov Kleiman also took to X to show his support. Deestroying fans have been praying for his recovery ever since the news came out. Kleiman’s post on X said, “Heartbreaking: UFL kicker/YouTuber Deestroying has been placed on the injured reserve list 💔🙏. What a journey this kid has been through. Praying for a speedy recovery.”
In Kleiman’s video, we could see that Donald De La Haye aka Deestroying was tackling the opposite player and took a massive hit. The sound of the impact was enough to tell the story. He successfully tackled the opposing player, but it might have cost him five weeks to return to the field again.
His journey to the Brahmas has its ups and downs. He was disqualified from the NCAA because of his YouTube venture but secured a spot in the UFL.
How Deestroying disregarded the NCAA’s “ultimatum”
When he started his YouTube channel in 2015, the NCAA didn’t allow its athletes to make money through name, image, and likeness (NIL). The policy changed in 2021, but the NCAA gave him an ultimatum that it was either college football or his YouTube career. He didn’t pay heed to the warnings and chose YouTube instead.
