The Chargers won the first three games of the 2025 season before losing the next two games. But in all those games, there’s one thing clear. They haven’t crossed the 30-point mark. Head coach Jim Harbaugh wants someone who can give them the edge over their rivals. And he can turn towards another AFC franchise, the Baltimore Ravens.

He should push the front office to trade for Mark Andrews, the three-time Pro Bowl tight end. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay suggested that the Chargers trade a 2026 sixth-round pick for Andrews. “With things going from bad to worse in recent weeks for the Baltimore Ravens, the team could soon become one of the more unexpected sellers at the trade deadline,” Kay wrote.
But he then added, “One longtime Raven who could be on the way out is Mark Andrews, a veteran tight end now in the final year of his contract. While he’s in his eighth NFL season and on the wrong side of 30, he’s still a highly productive player who could help a contender.” Andrews has stayed productive.

Through five games, he has 17 catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He scored 11 touchdowns in 2024 and remains one of the top players at his position. Fox Sports’ Eric D. Williams said Andrews will “command some interest around the league” if the Ravens decide to sell.

Harbaugh might see Andrews as the missing piece for Justin Herbert. “The Los Angeles Chargers are lacking a true pass-catching weapon at the TE spot and should consider making a run at Andrews,” Kay added.
Tyler Conklin, with eight receptions for 83 yards and no touchdowns, and rookie Oronde Gadsden II, with 11 receptions for 76 yards and no touchdowns, have been sharing receiving duties for the 3-2 Bolts. However, neither currently stands out as a dependable target for star quarterback Justin Herbert.

Andrews could step in right away and take over the starting role. However, Jim Harbaugh must move quickly. The Seattle Seahawks are also interested in Andrews. Head coach Mike Macdonald, who coached Andrews in Baltimore, could push for a reunion. The Seahawks already look like NFC contenders with a tough defense and Sam Darnold playing efficient football.
If the Ravens start selling, Harbaugh and Macdonald could end up fighting for the same star tight end.
Jim Harbaugh adds a defensive star
The Baltimore Ravens have traded Odafe Oweh to the Los Angeles Chargers, making a big change for both teams’ defenses. The Ravens wanted to make their safety group stronger, while the Chargers needed more players to rush the quarterback. Head coach John Harbaugh said the team is still focused on building a better defense, even after losing one of their best young pass rushers.
Oweh, a 2021 first-round pick, has great athletic ability but has not always been consistent in Baltimore. He has six sacks in the first five games and is still one of the team’s best pass rushers. The Ravens traded him to give more balance to their defense. They also added Alohi Gilman and veteran C.J. Gardner-Johnson to help rookie safety Malaki Starks, who has 34 tackles but no pass breakups in five games.
For the Chargers, Oweh makes their defense stronger. With Khalil Mack injured, Oweh will be a key player next to Tuli Tuipulotu. Los Angeles is near the bottom of the league in quarterback pressures, and Oweh brings speed and power off the edge.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said, “He’s a lot like Khalil Mack. Direct rusher, but has speed, has depth, has the ability to set the edge. Been a very good, productive young player in his prime.” He is one of the top 15 in hurry rate and can make big plays even without a sack. Oweh fits well on the Chargers’ aggressive defense. They will use him as a rusher and sometimes drop him into coverage to use all his skills.
With Justin Herbert leading a strong offense, the Chargers’ defense now has a player who can help win close games.
