Jim Harbaugh has some injury updates after the Los Angeles Chargers took down the Raiders. The bright lights of Allegiant Stadium dimmed a bit when Khalil Mack, the Chargers’ defensive superstar, limped off the field. Fans in the Charger bolt were left holding their breath as Mack’s left arm got tangled during a tackle. So what’s the update? Harbaugh shared that Mack would get imaging on his elbow the next day. “We’ll see where it takes us,” he said.

The injury happened late in the first quarter. Mack went for a tackle on Raiders wideout Tre Tucker. Just as he reached out, his teammate Troy Dye accidentally collided with him. The impact bent Mack’s left arm at a nasty angle, making the moment look worse than anyone hoped.
Right after the play, Mack looked like he knew something was off. He didn’t waste time. He hopped up and sprinted straight to the medical tent. Then, he paused briefly on the sidelines before doubling over in pain. The team’s training staff rushed to his side. The pain was clearly intense. Soon enough, Khalil Mack made his way back to the locker room, holding his left arm steady.

Later, the Chargers confirmed Mack was out for the rest of the game because of an elbow injury. However, Mack returned to the sidelines before halftime. He was without his shoulder pads and wore a medical sling, his left arm clearly supported.

It’s worth noting Mack, 34, inked a one-year, $18 million deal with the Chargers this offseason. After Joey Bosa left, Mack became L.A.’s main pass rusher. The Chargers need him back as soon as possible. Still, they handled the Raiders pretty well without him.
Justin Herbert controls the game despite Khalil Mack’s injury
The latest chapter in the heated rivalry between Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll played out under the bright lights of Allegiant Stadium. In the end, Harbaugh’s Chargers came out on top, beating Carroll’s Raiders 20-9. It wasn’t the most exciting Monday Night Football game, but the Chargers did their job.
Meanwhile, Justin Herbert kept rolling. He threw for two touchdowns and completed 19 of 27 passes, racking up 242 yards. Plus, he led the Chargers in rushing with nine carries for 31 yards. Still, it was the defense stealing the show. They intercepted Raiders quarterback Geno Smith three times, matching a career high for the veteran QB. In fact, linebacker Daiyan Henley, battling fever and an illness, set the tone on the game’s first play from scrimmage by intercepting the QB. On the flip side, Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson booted all his team’s points through field goals.

Moreover, the game’s highlight was Herbert’s 60-yard touchdown strike to Quentin Johnston, giving him three touchdowns this season. Keenan Allen added the other touchdown, catching a 10-yard pass just before the end of the first quarter. Although a late fumble from rookie Omarion Hampton, later charged to Herbert, brought some tension, the Chargers’ defense made Smith throw it away on a fourth down with 3:05 left, sealing the deal.
Still, the Raiders struggled in the red zone despite moving well on third down (9-for-18). They averaged just 3.4 yards per play, and Smith finished 24-for-43 with 180 yards. Meanwhile, Carroll, coaching on his 74th birthday, became the oldest coach in NFL history. But this night belonged to the Chargers. And now, both teams shift focus to Week 3.
