The Los Angeles Chargers had a 25-10 dominant win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the week 10 matchup. Sitting at 7-3, they are in a very comfortable position in the AFC West. However, the Chargers met with a setback on Sunday. Oronde Gadsden II, the Chargers’ tight end, suffered an injury that forced him out of the field.

Jesse Morse, Sports Medicine Physician, took to his X to explain the rookie’s situation.

“Oronde Gadsden, left Knee. You can see the knee-to-knee contact at the knee or to the distal quad. If this was just a quad bruise then I think Gadsden would have returned, but he didn’t. Therefore, I think this could be potentially concerning. Either a patellar dislocation, fracture or a ‘knee sprain.’ We should hear an update tmr.”

The injury happened during a blocking play when he took an awkward step and collided knee-to-knee with linebacker Payton Wilson. He was seen limping off the field and heading straight to the locker room.

Initially, there was no proper detail about what happened to him. However, later the broadcast showed that he hurt his left knee and was getting treated accordingly. And that’s what makes the situation a bit messy.

Oronde Gadsden II had been impressive this year

It’s a worrying sight for the Chargers, especially since the tight end has been one of the league’s top rookies this season. Fans are now hoping the injury isn’t serious and that he’ll be back on the field soon. Although the NFL doctor has offered some insights regarding the potential harm to the 22-year-old, naming it ‘either a patellar dislocation, fracture, or a knee sprain.’

Before exiting the field, the rookie had caught three of six targets for 13 yards. Not only in this game, but as a whole, his loss will be huge for the Chargers. Justin Herbert, the Los Angeles quarterback, is relying a lot on Gadsden, especially in the last few games. He had 32 catches with two touchdowns with an average of 14.2 yards per catch.

After Gadsden’s exit from the game, Tyler Conklin took his place. And the team ultimately won the matchup, but it didn’t come easy.

The Chargers quarterback, Justin Herbert, was sacked three times in this game. Additionally, the Steelers’ defense managed to hit him nine times, which is the most in the NFL. Yet Herbert was able to lead the Bolts to victory.

In total, he threw for 213 yards and a touchdown. Herbert connected with Ladd McConkey, who had four catches for 107 yards and a touchdown. Despite facing 33 sacks this season and a league-high 175 pressures, Herbert is still able to lead the Chargers to victory.

The Chargers not only dominated the Steelers, but it was a special night for veteran wideout Keenan Allen. He crossed Antonio Gates to become the Chargers’ all-time leader in receptions with 956 catches.

The Bolts are in a pretty comfortable position as they prepare to face the Jaguars in Week 11.
