Omenihu was suspended for the first six games in his first season with the Chiefs. On returning, the defensive end helped the team reach the Super Bowl with 17 solo tackles and seven sacks. Then came the injury, which forced him to miss the big game. While he was missing from the field, speculation about his future in the Chiefs was rife, and Omenihu is now back with a fitting answer.

Charles Omenihu promises a strong season ahead
Aaron Wilson from the NFL Network states, “Full recovery expected for next season.” On the path to making a powerful impression in the 2024 season, Omenihu had a blunt message for everyone who doubted his capability. He shared a post on X, calling out all the speculations surrounding the rusher. The 26-year-old addressed the rumors and said that people will stop putting question marks on his skills as a player after watching his play in the upcoming season. He also reminded his haters that he was keeping a record of everything.
Love seeing other people trying to gage when I’m going to come back from something. Or what type of player I am. I would think after this year people would stop second guessing me but guess not. I keep all receipts though.

Omenihu was injured during a non-contact play against the Ravens in the championship game victory of Kansas City. The Chiefs’ defensive end announced his successful surgery of the torn ACL with a post on social media. He thanked all the well-wishers and God, quoting a positive message from the Bible: “Surgery was a success. I appreciate all the well wishes and prayers. I’ve been through the dark before and God has always guided me to the light this will be no different. THE JOURNEY BEGINS. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you” this is the Lord’s declaration “plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Omenihu feels “underappreciated” in the Chiefs
The 2019 NFL Draft pick joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023. Before the ACL debacle, Omenihu was also suspended, causing him to miss a chunk of the season. Regardless, he still managed to rack up an impressive 11 quarterback hits, seven sacks, and five tackles for loss, showing his team the immense value he could add to the defense. This value, however, remains hidden behind a hefty paywall of Omenihu’s $16 million contract. He felt his efforts went “unnoticed” when he still achieved some incredible feats despite being unable to play an entire season. “Want to feel appreciated. Didn’t have a full season and put up numbers. Does that go unnoticed? Might have to do it again to get what I want at the end.“
A vital member of the Chiefs’ defensive line, Omenihu served as a crucial rotational edge rusher. Omenihu promises to come back stronger than ever but also seeks compensation. His tweet sparked speculations of his desire for a new contract. Last March, Omenihu signed the agreement in question for two years.

The young player feels undervalued and underappreciated, despite showing great promise with his recent surgery. With the new 2023 pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah, the team will have a tough time covering defense without Charles Omenihu sharing the burden.
