The Kansas City Chiefs started 2025 on the wrong side of history. They lost the first two games of the season before winning the Week 3 game. But in the last 15 times when they started 0-2, they have only managed playoffs once. So, for the Chiefs Kingdom, the game is on. In Week 4, they face the dominant Ravens. And ahead of the crucial game, HC Andy Reid got some important advice.

During the September 25 episode of The Herd, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd suggested a strong move: “I think they have to look strongly at Tyreek Hill. Again, is it a one-year deal? But this is Travis’ last year. He will be in the biggest games, ready to roll and block, which he wasn’t early in this season. I think you need to make a move at the trade deadline.” If that happens, it will be one of the most groundbreaking deals of 2025. And it could change the face of their disappointing season.
Andy Reid knows this very well. Tyreek Hill’s 2025 season has started quietly. In three games, he’s recorded 15 catches for 198 yards and 1 touchdown, plus a 19-yard return. For a player who once dominated every week, it is a noticeable decline. His explosiveness has also dimmed.

Collin Cowherd really just said the #Chiefs have no run game and no good receivers to build around… 👀
He even suggested KC should trade for Tyreek Hill before the deadline.

Just a few years ago, Hill was untouchable. In 2023 with Miami, he posted 119 receptions, 1,799 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Defenders scrambled, quarterbacks struggled, and Hill still made them pay. In Kansas City, his rise was meteoric. Drafted in the fifth round in 2016, he exploded as a rookie with 61 catches, 593 yards, 6 TDs, and nearly 1,000 return yards.

In 2021, Hill peaked. He posted four games with at least 11 receptions, broke the Chiefs’ single-season reception record, and delivered clutch playoff performances, including a 64-yard OT touchdown against the Bills. Traded to Miami in 2022 for multiple draft picks, Hill signed $120 million over four years and immediately dominated.
Even as production dipped slightly in 2024, Hill remained elite. In 2025, he shows us the human side of greatness. But the threat, the speed, the game-breaking talent are still there.

Andy Reid has to handle key areas
While talking about the Chiefs’ offensive game, his co-host Mark Sanchez asked, “Let’s go to the Chiefs. Their offense is anaemic, 21st in scoring. Colin, should the Chiefs be panicked or patient?”
Cowherd replied, ” Panic, because this is Travis Kelce’s last year, and they don’t really have a receiving core to build around. So, don’t waste Mahomes’ talent. Right now, they have no running game. Kelsey, last year, cross your fingers on the maturity of Rashee Rice.” Let’s compare their numbers with those of 31 other teams.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense in 2025 has been solid but not dominant. In the passing game, the team has 62 catches for 669 yards, averaging 10.8 yards per catch, with 3 touchdowns. Their longest reception was 49 yards, and 29 catches converted to first downs, giving a 46.8% first-down rate. They also recorded 9 receptions of 20+ yards and 2 over 40 yards, showing occasional big-play ability.
Compared to top passing teams like the Colts (63 catches, 816 yards, 3 TDs) or Ravens (54 catches, 722 yards, 9 TDs), the Chiefs are middle of the pack, steady but not explosive.

On the ground, Kansas City has 71 rushing attempts for 324 yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, with 3 rushing touchdowns. Their longest run reached 22 yards, and 23 rushes led to first downs, helping move the chains and keep defenses honest. Reid has his hands full and needs to find a way to address the issues now. Maybe trade for Hill if need be.
Overall, the Chiefs’ 2025 offense is efficient but not elite. They move the ball both through the air and on the ground, yet they lack the edge they have seen previously. It’s high time now. This is their revenge season after the SB LIX loss.
