After a win over the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to secure a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium. Both teams would want all their key players to suit up and play. Both the head coaches, Andy Reid and Liam Coen, would be looking forward to having all the personnel at their disposal. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. A few players on each team are questionable. Let’s look at the injury report.

Under Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, the team has an impressive defense unit. But before Week 5, the secondary suffered a hit. Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid‘s defense side won’t have cornerback Kristian Fulton in the matchup against the Jaguars. The CB is struggling with his ankle injury issues as he saw limited action in the practice session on Friday (October 3). This is the fourth time. He was listed as questionable for Week 3’s game, which he missed.

He is listed as questionable for Week 5, and the chances are he might be out in this game, too. The issue with Fulton is that he has been sidelined since joining the Kansas City team. Dealing with his knee injury, he missed most of his training camp on the physically unable to perform list. He finally returned to the preseason for some action. But was injured again.

After signing a two-year, $20 million deal with the Chiefs, he had 17 defensive snaps through the first four games of the season. He is phenomenal, but he has also dealt with several injuries. In his absence, cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson are expected to step in. The injury report appears favorable for the Chiefs, with all players having fully participated in practice.

Another player with a questionable status on the injury report is defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott. The defensive tackle is struggling with his shoulder injury sustained on Friday; he didn’t practice on Saturday. After missing the Week 1 game, the Tennessee product only played 55 defensive snaps through 3 games.

It’s unlikely that Norman-Lott will be available for the game, and if that happens, the team will rely on defensive tackle Chris Jones to step up. However, it’s not all bad news for the Chiefs. Defensive end Mike Danna, who has been dealing with a quad injury, was a full participant in practice this week, which is a positive sign for his Week 5 availability.

While the Chiefs are dealing with uncertainty around two players, the Jaguars have their own concerns to address.

Coach Liam Coen won’t have Yasir Abdullah for the Week 5 game

Linebacker Yasir Abdullah won’t be playing against the Chiefs as he’s still dealing with a hamstring injury. It’s the second game he’ll miss since getting hurt in practice last Friday after sitting out against the San Francisco 49ers. While he has seen no action on defense this season, he’s been active on special teams, playing 54 snaps in three games.

Both the defensive end Travon Walker and offensive lineman Wyatt Milum are listed as questionable. Walker exited Week 4’s victory early with a wrist injury requiring specialist consultation and a surgical procedure earlier this week. Despite undergoing surgery on Monday, head coach Liam Coen classified Walker as day-to-day and hasn’t ruled him out for Monday night’s game.

Walker missed Thursday and Friday practice sessions but appeared on the field Saturday wearing a club on his left hand. “I trust that if he says he can go, then we’ll go,” Coen said. There’s still a chance he suits up against the Chiefs, though if not, defensive ends Emmanuel Ogbah and Dawuane Smoot are expected to get more reps.

As for Milum (knee), he was ruled out for the game against the 49ers. He saw limited action in the practice. And if he misses the upcoming game, this will be his fifth straight absence to start the season.

With both teams dealing with injuries, each side will be eager to fight through the hurdles and secure a win on Oct. 6.
