Out of all the places we expected the Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach to be just before the NFL draft, we found him conversing with the 2014 Cup Series championship winner Kevin Harvick. The duo talked about their love for cars, the current NASCAR scene, and even Brett Veach’s car collection.

The recent interview with NASCAR on FOX revealed how the Chiefs GM is a huge NASCAR fan and how his association with the Kansas City Chiefs has prompted him to meet stalwarts and influential sports stars beyond the field of football, making him admire several people outside of the NFL as well.

NASCAR came into Veach’s life through his brother in Pennsylvania. He mentioned how he didn’t like the sport at first, but it grew on him eventually. Veach realized that “anyone could drive a car” but later came to appreciate the struggles of being a racer. Talking on similar lines, Harvick asked the GM, “Do you have a favorite driver now? Who would you pick to be your favorite driver in today’s NASCAR world?”

While Brett did not give one particular name as the answer, he did mention multiple drivers who increased his respect for the sport. From Harvick himself to Clint Bowyer, Veach did not hesitate in acknowledging the praiseworthiness of each racer. Alongside this, the Chiefs’ manager was also quick to highlight how his tenure with the team has been very fortunate as he got to meet tons of influential people through it.

Two of those names are the NASCAR world greats, Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson. “Through a mutual friend here at the Kansas City Chiefs, I’ve gotten to know Kyle Busch really well. And then our mutual friend Chad Wheeler, uh, he’s close with Kyle Larson, so I’ve gotten to say hi and talk to him.”

His connection with varied stars just shows that he has been a long-time NASCAR enthusiast. While he joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, the new exposure and opportunity of contact with the racing world allowed his love for the sport to grow even more as time flew by. A video from a couple of years ago shows Brett Veach’s unmissable racing enthusiasm.

The Chiefs GM hasn’t missed a single spring NASCAR event!

That’s right! Brett Veach has attended every single spring NASCAR race since 2013 held at Kansas, the year he joined the Kansas City Chiefs. “Since I’ve been here in 13’, I’ve been coming to every spring race and uh, certainly look forward to it and it’s a lot of fun.” The video is from Digital Ally 400 in 2019.

The Advent Health 400 is set to take place at the Kansas Speedway on Mat 5, 2024. The race consists of 267 laps on a 1.5-mile asphalt runway. Given Brett Veach’s fandom and football off-season, we might see Veach at the venue of the 12 race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup.
