Last Game Week wasn’t ideal for Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs fell short against the Buffalo Bills, losing 28-21. And while the bye week gives Mahomes a break from suiting up, football hasn’t left his mind for a second. However, his latest football venture led him to issue an official apology to Missourians.

So, what exactly happened? Mahomes made a trip back to his roots in Lubbock, Texas. As the guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” he was having fun predicting college football matchups. But then came one pick that instantly sparked reactions across Chiefdom. In choosing between Texas A&M and Missouri, he went with the Aggies.

“I’m taking Texas A&M. Marcel Reed, that defense getting after it. Sorry to all my Chiefs Kingdom, a lot of Mizzou fans there, but I’m going with the Aggies,” Mahomes apologized while making the prediction. If you’re wondering why fans might take it personally, here’s the deal.

The University of Missouri’s campus sits just over two hours from Arrowhead Stadium. There’s a heavy overlap between the Tigers’ faithful and Chiefs Kingdom.

According to ESPN Bet, Texas A&M entered the matchup as a 6 1/2-point favorite. So, Mahomes wasn’t exactly crazy for calling it that way. Still, loyalty cuts deeper than odds.

Now, as Missouri heads into the game 6-2 and fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive, the Aggies are looking to stay perfect and push closer to the SEC title game.

But that’s not the only headline stirring Missourians this week. Beyond football picks, talk is growing louder about the Chiefs possibly leaving Missouri for Kansas, something that could change everything for Chiefdom.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are planning a move

Mundo’s report mentioned that the Chiefs have sent RFPs to 10 different architectural firms for a possible stadium site near the intersection of Interstate 435 and Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kansas.

It’s an area that’s been on the radar for years. The team plans to cut that list of 10 firms down to just two finalists by early 2026 for a full design competition.

Owner Clark Hunt made it clear how he views the potential upgrade, calling the idea of building a dome “a tremendous asset.” He believes it would open doors to major events that Arrowhead Stadium simply can’t host right now.

However, Mundo also made one thing clear: this “does NOT mean they are going to Kansas,” but instead shows that the organization is “taking steps forward to seriously explore a move across the state line.”

That urgency comes from timing. The Chiefs’ lease at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium runs out in January 2031, meaning a decision can’t be pushed off much longer.

Meanwhile, Missouri is not backing down. Back in June 2025, state officials countered with an offer that includes bonds covering up to 50 percent of a new stadium or major Arrowhead renovation, plus $50 million in tax credits.

Now, the Chiefs have two paths: a modern dome in Kansas or a revived Arrowhead in Missouri. Either way, Chiefdom’s future is about to get very interesting.
