In partnership with Adidas and the QB, this NIL group was started last season for the student-athletes. And this season, the Team Mahomes welcomed football quarterback Behren Morton.

“Congratulations to @bmorton_2 on signing to Mahomes Brand,” the official page of Equity Sports posted on Instagram.

For those who aren’t aware, Morton is one of the top players for Texas Tech. He has thrown for 1,750 yards with 15 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions this season. Even though he’s still in college, several NFL teams have taken notice.

One of the rumored franchises is the Detroit Lions. They are reportedly considering adding him to their roster behind their quarterback, Jared Goff, and backup QB Kyle Allen. Morton’s performance for the Lions will depend on whether the team can acquire him if he declares for the 2026 draft.

As for now, the NIL program is one of the most important feats to add to his resume. NiJaree Canady (Softball pitcher), Sam Courtwright (soccer midfielder), Christian Anderson (basketball guard), and Malachi Snow (track-and-field athlete) are also part of the team, as revealed by Mahomes during his recent visit to Lubbock, Texas. He was in his hometown to watch his alma mater play against the BYU Cougars.

This game was extra special, as the players debuted this year’s edition of the “Too Cold” uniforms. Mahomes designed the jersey himself. The jersey featured “iced-out” lettering and a Gladiator symbol. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback even rocked the jersey during the game.

“Texas Tech will always be home for me, so I’m proud to give back to the school and community who helped shape me on and off the field,” Mahomes said in a press release. “As the partnership with Adidas continues to evolve and expand, we’re redefining not just the future of Red Raider sports, but college athletics more widely.”

He was the guest picker of the game and joined College GameDay hosts Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban. Later, he also gave a shout-out to another Texas Tech player after his alma mater clinched a 29-7  win.

Patrick Mahomes gave a shoutout to  Jacob Rodriguez

During the game, Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez’s performance caught Mahomes’ attention.

“Get him to New York! @HeismanTrophy,” Mahomes posted. His post gained traction and approval from several netizens.

He is one of the talented players on the Red Raiders roster. In the game against BYU, he had 14 combined tackles (nine solo), one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception. His versatility has been evident all this season and can help Texas Tech climb to the top of the Big 12 standings.

Rodriguez is in his fifth year of college football after starting out at Virginia back in 2021. This season, he has already racked up 77 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and a sack. So it’s no surprise Mahomes had plenty of praise for him.

The linebacker will only continue to get many chances to develop from here. Do you think Jacob Rodriguez should also join Team Mahomes?
