The Chiefs’ star had to decide who he would choose to have a few cocktails with between Swift and Kelce. The long snapper decided to forgo his friend, instead choosing to make the Grammy winner his drinking buddy!

Winchester had an interesting reason to back up his choice as well. He said he already spends enough time with Kelce during the season and training and would instead like a chat with the singer. “I see Travis enough,” said the Chiefs player. “I’ve had enough conversations and -get to see Travis every day, you know, it’s a long season from July until February. Love you, Trav, but I see enough of you..so yeah, it’d probably be sit-down and drinks with Taylor.”

The 34-year-old further praised Swift, calling her “sharp” and “pretty easy to talk to,” and said that he’ll have “a fun conversation” with the singer. Winchester also expects to learn a few dance moves from Swift so he can join in with his kid to her songs. “And on the dance floor, she might help me out. Yeah, [I’d] be dancing like my kids to Shake It Off.” The long snapper was there when Kelce’s romance sparked off last year, and after his first meeting, he was a fan of Swift!

When Winchester became a T Swift fan

The star recalled the first time he met Kelce’s then-rumored beau after a Chiefs game. Rumors abounded about the budding romance, and when the singer showed up at their game, Winchester noted his teammate’s adorable reaction. After the initial surprise to see the singer supporting Kansas City, the tight end couldn’t help but behave like a teenager in love!

“[I told Travis], “Jay just told me right there. That’s awesome, man, good for you,“” shared the long snapper. “He’s just kind of smiling, like, kind of blushing.” Later, Winchester met the couple and was pleasantly surprised when Swift recognized him. “Later on that night, I got to meet her and -the first thing she said- “Hey guys, you’re the guy with the cute kids” ‘Cause we had my son and daughter on the field.”

This was the moment when Winchester became a fan of the Grammy Award-winning star. “so I’m like dang, okay. I think I just became a T Swift fan.” the long-snapper also shared how getting to know the singer better last year made him realize that Swift is quite “genuine.”

James Winchester wishes the best for the couple and expressed he “couldn’t be happier for Trav and her.” His anecdotes show how Swift became a part of the Chiefs Kingdom, winning Kelce’s family, teammates, and eventually the entire fandom.
