You must have heard the phrase, ‘Killing two birds with one stone’, right? In a positive way, the same thing is going on within the Kansas City Chiefs. How? The head coach Andy Reid made a firm decision on Wednesday that veteran QB Carson Wentz will start the week 18 game against the Denver Broncos, and people were shocked. But those who know this 66-year-old genius know why this move is an opportunity for Carson Wentz but at the same time a recovery time for the superstar QB Patrick Mahomes.

The news of Wentz as a starting QB is still buzzing, but this time it has another reason. One of the Chiefs’ star wide receivers Nikko Remigio has strongly acknowledged Andy Reid’s move. When asked about the Chiefs No. 11, Remigio happily said, “Our chemistry has been developing since OTAs… Now that we’re out here running the offense and plays that we know on our timing? He’s slinging that thing… He definitely should be a starter somewhere. I’m excited for him.” Well, now it will be fun to watch them play in the next matchup. Meanwhile, Carson’s reaction after learning about Reid and the organization’s decision was hilarious.

Carson Wentz, the North Dakota State College alumni, said “That’s the goal” when asked about the opportunity to start against the Broncos. What goal he was talking about? Obviously, Wentz is happy, and when the reporters approached him, the 6’5″ QB only said, “I want to play well and have success out there and ultimately, more than anything, get a win. That’s the goal.”

The 32-year-old joined the Chiefs kingdom in 2024 and as of week 17 games, he has played only two games. Carson threw for 20 passing yards and completed two out of two throws. The Philadelphia Eagles picked up this North Dakota State College alumnus as the 2nd pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. With great caliber, Wentz delivered the best plays every year, which made the Chiefs sign him for one year with a contract worth $3,325,000. And now he will get to start again, but this time to show his real worth.

Andy Reid believes in Carson Wentz while Mahomes rests

On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network shared a post on X about Andy Reid’s take on starting no. 11 against the Broncos. Talking about the decision, Andy Reid said, “It wasn’t a hard decision. I’ve been through it before. It gives the other guys an opportunity to grow.”

Reid reportedly wanted to rest the important starters, so he changed the roster to some extent. Patrick Mahomes will be resting for some time and will get back to work. The team needs him the most. But when Patrick was asked about whether he would be preparing for the Denver, the star QB said, “I’ll prepare regardless, either way. Denver is probably going to be a playoff team regardless, so I’m going to prepare for them like I’m going to start and if Coach wants me to go out there and play, I’ll go out there and play.”

And further continued, “If he [coach] doesn’t, I’ll sit back. I have full trust that Coach Reid knows what he’s doing, and he’s done it for a long time.” But to say it clearly now, the starting QB is Wentz and he will be starting against Denver.

Alright. So much buzz is going around Carson Wentz and absolutely there’s going to be tremendous pressure. But one thing is clear: Kansas City Chiefs fans have responded greatly to the new starting quarterback. How will it roll? It’ll be interesting to see.
