Travis Kelce Pumps the Brakes on Wedding Plans After Sweaty-Palmed Proposal to Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement in late August 2025 has raised questions about their wedding plans, which have quickly become a topic in the public eye. When Kelce sat down with his brother Jason Kelce and guest Jimmy Fallon on a recent episode of New Heights, Fallon asked, “Are you working on planning the wedding? Are you doing this now? Is that next?”

Kelce offered an insightful remark in response to Fallon’s question about what comes first: the date, the location, or the music: “That one’s gonna be easy. I just have to figure out when a football came first. It’s easy compared to trying to figure out if I will probably touch a goddamn football.”

Kelce hasn’t been at his best like yesteryears.

He and Swift, however, are already confident of one thing: “I think we’re live music kind of people,” Kelce added. Fallon hinted, “I’ve seen you perform. ACDC live with the band. It was one of the best things I’ve ever heard.” In parallel with their public history, Swift and Kelce have shown their love of music and live performances through their combined appearances (karaoke duets, etc.) in addition to their concerts and football seasons. Fallon said he had seen Kelce “perform,” citing a specific incident in which he played live AC/DC with a band.

Travis and Jason’s performance of “Old Time Rock & Roll” during the American Century Championship in July dazzled the audience. He was dressed in white sneakers, a baseball cap, olive shorts, and a matching polo shirt. Jason wore khaki shorts and a more relaxed white, cropped shirt with a cowboy hat. Fans also recall Swift and her fiancé performing songs together in a public performance at the U.S. Open in September 2024.

Despite the attention and the lighthearted offers, people close to Kelce and Swift say they want a small, private wedding instead of a big event. According to reports, Swift and Kelce waited two weeks before sharing their wonderful news on Instagram in late August. On Instagram, Swift posted pictures from the occasion. The two were cuddling and surrounded by flowers. In the caption, she wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The moment became even more significant when he acknowledged that he is “an emotional guy,” feeling both vulnerable and determined. Kelce discussed how Swift has personally transformed his life in the same conversation.

The Chiefs player popped the question at his home in Missouri after telling Swift, “Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,” his dad, Ed Kelce, later revealed. Kelce popped the question to Swift with an old mine, brilliant cut diamond, a ring that the 14-time Grammy winner is still showing off.
