In the Kansas City Chiefs’ final regular-season game against the Houston Texans last year, Taylor Swift was at Arrowhead fresh off wrapping her last-ever Eras Tour concert. And she wasn’t the only special guest. Travis Kelce’s high school coach, Jeff Rotsky, who coached him as a senior, was there too. And he shared a pretty fun story about his first chat with Taylor.

“She is the kindest young lady you ever met and down to earth. She treated us like gold. The first time we met, her opening line was, ‘I’ve been looking forward to meeting you, I want to hear all the dirt about Travis,'” he said in an interview with The Times. And let’s be real, there’s probably plenty of it. It’s safe to assume that he was a menace in high school.

The meeting happened on December 21st of last year, and there are even photos of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift smiling alongside Kelce’s old high school coach and his daughter, Emmie.

But to be fair, Rotsky would probably start by bragging about how ridiculously good an athlete Kelce was back in high school. At Cleveland Heights High, Kelce was an athletic specimen. He was a part of both the football and basketball varsity teams. Pretty insane.

“Football’s great, but this is life,” Rotsky said. “I am so excited for him to become a husband, even more excited for him to become a father someday. I pray for little Kelces running around here in the next couple of years,” Rotsky said, talking about his former player.

Back in high school, Rotsky saw it all, the highs, the lows, and everything in between. He was there when Kelce lost his scholarship and got suspended for a season at Cincinnati. But what stands out now is how much he’s grown since then. Rotsky remembers Kelce’s fire vividly, how badly he wanted to win, how fiercely he competed, and how he pushed everyone around him to rise to his level.

“There are great stories about Trav, starting with the competitiveness to the recruitment trips with my son,” the coach said. “He knew how to have fun and have a good time…..I’m proud of what he’s done athletically.”

And now, that same kid he once coached is engaged to the biggest pop star on the planet. Apparently, the two are deep into wedding planning.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift make progress on wedding details

The internet pretty much lost its mind when Kelce and Swift dropped their engagement photos on Instagram. As excited as fans were, most expected the wedding to happen much later. Be that as it may, the two have already made solid progress on locking down the day and date of the big event. And according to podcast host Fiona Shea, Kelce and Taylor even paid off another couple to secure it.

“An East Coast woman was planning on getting married somewhere this coming summer….She was reached out to by the establishment where she’s having her wedding and they said, ‘Hey, would you be willing to actually change the date of your wedding?’ She said, ‘F–k no.’ And they said, ‘This client is willing to pay for your wedding and honeymoon if you change the date of your wedding, because she needs this.’ And this is allegedly Taylor Swift.”

Well, most people would probably cave for that deal, perhaps that East Coast woman, too, did.

Anyway, the rumored date is 13th June, 2026. And it wouldn’t be surprising if it tied back to her lucky number 13, given her birthday is December 13th. And the venue? The legendary Breakers mansion, a $500 million Vanderbilt estate in Newport.

Again, the venue might’ve also been Taylor’s idea. She already owns a historic seaside estate in Rhode Island that she’s used as her personal hideaway for years. And guess what? That’s just about 40 miles from the rumored wedding venue.

For now, the couple hasn’t announced anything official yet, but this wedding’s shaping up to have a royal-wedding-level buzz.
