Ever since Tyreek Hill was traded away to Miami, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have had to adapt by winning with methodical, underneath drives, but the offense never quite has had that same terrifying vertical WR threat. Now, that explosive chapter might actually get a sequel. Super-agent Drew Rosenhaus announced on Monday that he is officially kicking off contract negotiations with multiple NFL teams for Hill.

Rosenhaus has also confirmed directly that the Kansas City Chiefs have stayed in constant communication while Hill himself fanned the flames online with cryptic posts, pointing toward a deal getting finalized over the next few days.
Hill has spent the opening 4 weeks of the 2026 NFL season unsigned while working his way back from major knee surgery. Rosenhaus made it clear that front offices are ready to talk numbers right now, pointing toward a very tight window for an agreement, as reported by NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
“Developing: Tyreek Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said he plans to begin negotiating a deal for his veteran wide receiver with multiple teams today. One of those teams is the Chiefs, who have maintained contact with Hill. ‘I would anticipate Tyreek potentially signing with a team over the next few days,’ Rosenhaus said,” Adam Schefter posted on X.
Hill has also been dropping hints online for some time now. In September, he posted on X, “I think I’m ready for some cold weather.” Then on Sunday, right after Kansas City lost WR Tyquan Thornton, who suffered a severe injury during the Week 4 clash against the Las Vegas Raiders, Hill posted a simple, 2-letter message: “hm.” on X. And fans and analysts connected the dots immediately.
When Tyreek Hill was blowing past secondaries in Kansas City between 2016 and 2021, he wasn’t just catching passes; he was completely bending defensive schemes out of shape. In 2018, Hill led the NFL with 27 passes of 20 or more yards.
That explains why Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach kept tabs on Hill’s recovery all summer, but The Athletic’s Mike Silver reported direct contact ramped up Sunday night. Tyreek Hill won Super Bowl LIV before his 2022 trade to Miami.
With a reunion suddenly looking like a real possibility, the anticipation amongst former teammates in the Chiefs locker room is already growing.
“That’s out of my hands, but I know I’d love to have ‘The Cheetah’ back in this building. He’s a brother. He’s a brother. He’s one of those people who, when he sets his mind to something, he usually delivers. You saw that with Miami, when all the haters were saying he couldn’t play and he went and had his best year. I’d be excited by what he could do (here),” Chiefs TE Travis Kelce told The Athletic’s Mike Silver, following Kansas City’s 30–27 comeback victory over the Raiders.
While star QB Patrick Mahomes said he had no idea if the move would happen, “but it’d be pretty cool (if it did).” Defensive leader Chris Jones even openly said bringing Hill back would be “dangerous.”
The Chiefs have started the season with 4 wins on the trot and head into their bye week before they take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. It remains to be seen whether Tyreek Hill will be a part of their roster by then.
