Xavier Worthy finally got back on the field, and it came with a win. The Chiefs wideout sidelined since Week 1 after an awkward collision with Travis Kelce on a crossing route left him injured. At the time, Kelce stepped up and said he would “take the most accountability” for what happened. But now, Worthy is finally opening up about how he feels about his star teammate.

When Rich Eisen asked him on his show whether the two ever spoke about the play, Worthy didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, me and Trav definitely talked about it. I mean, Trav’s my guy, and Trav knows that, like, regardless, it’s football. It happens, so never want to put that on Trav. So, it’s just always, it’s good to have somebody like that in the corner.” That answer put any doubt to bed. No tension. No resentment. Just respect.
In fact, Worthy doubled down on his support. “Man Trav, he’s the biggest hype man on the team,” Worthy said during the presser. “He’s always just hyping guys up and telling me like, ‘Man, I need you,’ and I’m ‘always the guy that’s gonna step up,’ so I just want to step up for the guys.” However, Kelce knows he can’t repeat the same mistake twice.

However, it wasn’t a small setback. Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder and a torn labrum on that hit. Andy Reid admitted just days later that no one knew how long it would take for him to return. Yet here he is.

Xavier Worthy’s victorious Week 4 return
The Chiefs didn’t exactly start the season on the right note. They dropped the opener to the Chargers, then lost to the defending champion Eagles in Week 2. Beating the Giants helped stop the bleeding, but it was the win over Baltimore that really shifted the vibe in the City of Fountains. And right in the middle of it, Xavier Worthy finally made his way back after missing two weeks.
And when he came back, he didn’t waste time. The former first rounder hauled in five catches for 83 yards and looked sharp from the jump. Yet Worthy made it clear he wasn’t circling this matchup as anything bigger than the rest. The AFC Championship rematch might have been huge for the fans, but in the locker room it was just another step forward.
“Everybody just stayed level-headed and calm. Coach Reid says it all the time, ‘I’ll treat you to a cheeseburger after the game.’ … That just shows the joy we have around here playing the game,” Worthy said post-game.
Now at 2-2, Kansas City has life again. The early stumbles can fade if they keep stacking wins. Next up, Monday Night Football under the lights against the 3-1 Jaguars. Chiefdom will be watching closely, and so will the rest of the AFC. And maybe Worthy has more to show at Arrowhead this time.
Patrick Mahomes is scrambling to spark the Chiefs’ ground game. Andy Reid’s crew is leaning even more on #15. But how long can he carry the load? Find out in our video.
