Upholding the maternal values, and taking her philanthropic passion a step ahead, Ciara Wilson recently took part at the Baby2Baby event in Los Angeles. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Russell Wilson’s wife made a celebratory announcement regarding the expansion of Baby2Baby’s Maternal Health & Newborn Supply Kits. Ciara was joined by Kelly Rowland and Olivia Wilde at the press conference in LA.

Wearing a chic black jumpsuit and matching Chelsea boots, Ciara paired her glamorous fit with a silver choker and gold bracelets which beautifully matched the tone of her honey-brown locks. Ciara also took to her Instagram to post an update regarding the event, posing with Kelly and Olivia. Talking about the initiative, she captioned, “Together we packed Maternal Health & Newborn Supply Kits presented by @huggies and in partnership with @hhsgov.”

The trio assembled kits with essential items at the Huggies sponsored event. Ciara also detailed the materials in the kit in the caption which includes “diapers, hygiene products, breastfeeding supplies, postpartum care, and educational resources to ensure new mothers have everything they need to take care of themselves and their new babies immediately after giving birth.”

The Baby2Baby and Huggies initiative has succeeded in distributing more than 3,000 kits via hospitals in Arkansas. The team plans to distribute 10,000 kits across ten more states. Olivia Wilde gave a shout to Ciara and Kelly for joining her in the initiative and making it a success. Baby2Baby Co-CEOs, Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof joined the trio, along with HHS Deputy Chief of Staff Angela Ramirez at the Baby2Baby headquarters for the entire assembling process.

Being part of the event, Ciara took to reflect on its significance in impacting maternal health, while sharing her personal experience with motherhood.

Ciara advocates for maternal health equity

Ciara Wilson, mother of four, reminisced about her first experience with motherhood during the birth of her son Future Zahir Wilburn. She acknowledged that she was lucky to have people around her, remarking, “I was very fortunate to have a great support system along the way.”

However, the singer also reflected on the disparities in maternal healthcare, adding, “… a lot of women aren’t getting the same kind of care that I was able to have.” She further adds, “The devastating increase in maternal mortality in the U.S. is honestly so crushing to me as a woman of color,” recognizing the systemic issues and inequalities they face.

Ciara adds that the Baby2Baby initiative “is a step in the right direction towards addressing this crisis.” Through her contribution, the mother of four urged her fans towards a collective action to address the shortcomings in maternal health.
