Sunday, March 10, was truly a celebratory day for the Wilson couple. The contract between the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson fell apart in just two stints. However, a mere week after the ‘releasing’ announcement, the then-free-agent quarterback revealed his third home in the NFL, joining the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wilson’s wife, Ciara, on the other hand, celebrated the joyous moment with yellow and black hearts on her IG story. And the two later attended the 96th edition of the Academy Awards dazzling in stylish outfits, the photos of which were shared by CiCi recently.

Ciara also styled her hair in long, short waves, opted for clean and subtle makeup, and wore a sheer gown that beautifully accentuated her silhouette. The athlete on the other hand donned a white suit with a pair of stylish glasses on Sunday night. The couple walked the red carpet with grace, allowing them to shine in front of the paparazzi.
This came after Wilson announced about his new 1-year, $1.2 million contract with Pittsburgh. Although many might think this is a low contract for Wilson, it’s not the case. His modest contract is causing a financial strain on the Broncos.
How are the Broncos hurt by Russell Wilson’s bargain contract?
Russell Wilson, known for not taking discounts, surprisingly agreed to a one-year deal with the Steelers at the league minimum of $1.21 million for the 2024 season. This is notably low, especially for a backup quarterback in the NFL, and even more so for someone of Wilson’s caliber who could potentially start for a team.
Despite struggling in his two seasons with the Broncos, the nine-time Pro Bowler could have sought a higher salary in free agency. However, he chose the league minimum due to a concept called “offsets.”

In Wilson’s case, when the Broncos released him, they were obligated to pay him $39 million for the upcoming season. Regardless of his decision, Wilson knew he would be paid nearly $40 million. By signing with the Steelers for $1.21 million, this reduces Denver’s obligations to him, and they now owe him $37.79.
Wilson’s choice for a low contract served two purposes: it made him a more attractive free agent, as a higher salary might have deterred potential suitors, and it represented a low-risk, potentially high-rewarding signing for Pittsburgh.
