This NFL season has come filled with histories and records. On one hand, the Sunday matchup saw Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A. J. Brown rewriting 53-year-old history, while on the other hand, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey tied a 60-year-old NFL record, making heads turn all around.

The 49ers played against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Week 8 NFL game on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. The Niners (5-3) lost to the Bengals 17-31 and dropped down to the second rank of the NFC West. However, despite losing, they still have a reason to celebrate, and that is because of their star running back, who recently tied his record with the Baltimore Colts’ (now Indianapolis Colts) Hall of Famer.

The 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey scored a two-yard touchdown in the first quarter of the game against the Bengals. This TD was special for him, as he scored it in his 17th consecutive game, including the playoffs. With this, McCaffrey tied the NFL’s long-standing record held by Baltimore Colts’ Hall of Famer, running back Lenny Moore.

Moore’s record had been the only one standing for almost 60 years, the streak which he achieved in his 17 games from 1963 to 1964. McCaffrey scored this historic TD while connecting with Brock Purdy in the first quarter with 3:19 left on the clock. He darted through defenders, and reached the end zone, scoring a 2-yard touchdown.
